Rustic accommodation

General

  • Family-run site on a vineyard in the south of the Cévennes
  • An hour's drive from Montpellier and the Mediterranean coast
  • Wine tasting, purchases and tours available on site

If you’re partial to a tipple or two on hols, this is a place you’ll want to raise a glass to. Depending on your preference, that could be a glass of red, white, rosé or sparkling – all are produced on site at Domaine d’Anglas from the surrounding vines.

Five minutes’ drive from the little village of Saint-Bauzille-de-Putois, Camping de Domaine d’Anglas is a rural retreat in the south of the Cévennes, with the Hérault river flowing just past its boundaries. The estate's been owned by the same family since the late 19th century, and now does tours and wine tastings for guests and visitors.

A restaurant is on site for plentiful eats and breakfasts. Folk who prefer to be more self-reliant on the food front can cook over coals at the shared barbecue area, having picked up all the necessaries either at the site’s shop or at the butcher, baker and grocer down in the village.

There’s plenty for les enfants to get up to around the site as well, including a football pitch, volleyball court, table tennis and a playground as well as splashing about in the river. Kids' activities run in summer for kids to keep them amused for a bit while you relax... perchance with a yoga class or a massage? Or with a glass of wine in hand of course (you are on hols, after all – cheers to that).

Please note

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 15/05 and 15/09 (subject to weather conditions).

Twin axle vehicles are not permitted on site.

Your dog must be tattooed or microchipped.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Peaceful Site 21/03/2018

Lovely setting for a site, very peaceful and surroundings. The 6km walk around the vineyard was really informative and a picnic spot on route was very useful. The site is undergoing a lot of work, i.e. new swimming pool. There are lots of things on site to do for children. The site was kept tidy.

    Disliked:

The only downside for us was that Pitch Up did not tell us that the site was not fully open so there were now washing machines or toilet/shower block. We managed but it was unfortunate. The pitch was a little tight for our motorhome, difficult to get on the pitch with the trees, the only way we could do this was by going on to the pitch opposite which would not have been possible if it had been busy. The WiFi signal was poor and only available around Reception.

    Buitiful setting.

    Disliked:

This is a new park and is still been developed. It was advertised as open and our pitch included water and electric. We got there just after arrive time after traveling up from Spain 8 hours driving. They were still there and gave us our information pack and axplained were to go. The site was in complete darkness so could not make out where the plots were as it was In a forest location. As it happens the electric points were all off and the water was turned off for winter as I tride several water points and electric with no luck . Luckily we had no children with us so we made do with the situation.when we got up the next morning the park looked nice but they should not have taken our booking nowing there was no water or electric as it looked like they were shut for winter. I do not normally complain but as I run a couple of holiday parks my self I no what campers expect espealcialy after a long journey. Do not advertise open if really you are shut.

From the manager...

Dear customers,

We understand your criticisms and hear them.Regarding your arrival, it is true that we could not welcome you as we usually do. Indeed, your arrival and departure were outside the opening hours of the reception which have led to these misunderstandings ...

We are open all year long, but in winter we need to give you a little explanation so that you can access water and electricity with ease.At the time of your reservation, you did not inform us of your late arrival and early departure.

If we would have known this matter, we could have anticipated your request, so that you could have benefited from all our services and leave with a positive image from our campsite, like 99.99% of our customers ...

Despite these misunderstandings we would be very happy to welcome you again at Domaine d'Anglas so that you can enjoy this time the beauty of our site!
Best regards,

Team's Domaine d'Anglas

Local attractions

Walkers can start with the six-kilometre route that runs through the estate’s own vineyard, then head out into the Cévennes National Park for longer routes taking in mountains and lakes. Hire bikes on site to roam around the local cycle routes, including one along a disused railway line, or drive up to Cazilhac (10 minutes) for horse riding.

Down in Saint-Bauzille-de-Putois there’s a canoe centre where you can hire kit or join guided trips on the Hérault river (have a chat with reception staff at Domaine d’Anglas to find out about any current discounts for guests). This is a great area for climbing, too – you can either go freestyle or follow a guide along a via ferrata route. Or you could really up the adrenaline levels and chuck yourself off a mountainside from the paragliding centre 20 minutes’ drive away.

Back down on earth, carry on below the surface to admire the rock formations at the Demoiselles caves, just outside Saint-Bauzille-de-Putois, or trot over to the cave at Clamouse, just over half an hour away.
