It's free, quick and easy!
- Family campsite by the beach five minutes' drive from Narbonne-Plage
- 15 minutes' drive to Gruissan; 55 minutes to Carcassonne
- Pool with waterslides; games and entertainment; restaurant and shop
With a coastal setting between Narbonne-Plage and Gruissan – the two major seaside resorts on the Aude’s Narbonne coast – Camping La Cote des Roses is a family-friendly park with a pool complex, splash fountains for the kids and direct access to a fine sandy beach.
As well as the heated pool, four waterslides, paddling pool with games and the water garden with mushrooms, bucket tree and water jets, there are other ways to keep the family entertained. Try a game of ping pong or pétanque, hire bikes to explore the locality and let toddlers loose in the play areas. In high season there are lots of activities for kids, and after-dark frivolity for all in the shape of karaoke sessions, musical shows and themed nights.
All sorts of handy things are on site here: a shop selling beachwear and vital stuff like rubber rings and fishing nets as well as groceries and breakfast pastries, plus a laidback alfresco bar and restaurant with a plentiful supply of snacks and drinks to keep everyone fed and watered.
Helpful family-centric services include washing machines and dryers (incurring a small charge), rental of baby equipment and irons – and if you have any further queries, just head for reception, where knowledgeable staff will help you out.

Local attractions
When you’ve tried all the waterslides at the pool, head down to the Mediterranean beach (five minutes’ walk) to have a crack at water sports like land yachting, karting and jetskiing. Inland, you can follow a seafront cycle path from the exit to the campsite, go horse riding in the pine forests or take the kids for paintballing sessions (both five minutes’ drive).
For a change of pace, explore the once-important Roman sea port of Narbonne (25 minutes), now snoozing inland on the side of the River Aude. This attractive city has promenades along the Canal de la Robine, a medieval cathedral and the enticing undercover food market at Les Halles – just the place for a lunchtime charcuterie snack and a glass of cold white wine.
Another historic treasure in the region is the once-fortified city of Carcassonne (55 minutes). A day trip rewards with a cobbled old town, walks around the ramparts of the sprawling Château Comtal and the spiky facade of the Gothic-era cathedral.
