- Dog-friendly site with sea and city views on the cliffs of Fécamp
- A 10-minute walk to the beach and GR21; Étretat 20 minutes’ drive
- Pétanque pitch on site and barbecues permitted; walk to the shops
White cliffs, watersports and sipping on Benedictine liqueur… that’s how things roll at Fécamp on the Côte d'Albâtre and it's just a sample of what a break at Camping de Reneville might look like. You see, this family-friendly site is lodged on top of the cliffs of Fécamp with a very striking view of the sea, city, port and cliffs, and just 10 minutes’ walk from the pebble beach, promenade and the GR21 coastal walk.
That means all the pleasures of the seaside are in store: lazing around, swimming, sailing and watersports, you name it. Hiking, mountain biking or horse riding are other options around Pays des Hautes Falaises in Normandy. After all, the landscapes include everything from pebble beaches and hanging valleys to authentic fishing villages such as Yport (10 minutes’ drive)…
Set off for Étretat (20 minutes’ drive) too, a spot with pillars and arches at sea, as well as the spectacular views northwards from the Chapelle Notre-Dame de la Garde. Just don’t forget about what’s on your doorstep in Fécamp – a fishery museum, Benedictine abbey, shops, fishing, canoeing and sailing are all at-hand, as are bars serving Benedictine liqueur and restaurants sprawling with seafood dishes.
The sea views and pedestrian access to the seafront are certainly some highlights at Camping de Reneville, but there’s plenty more to like. There are showers and toilets, a washing-up area, permission for barbecues overlooking the sea, a pétanque pitch, an aqua gym in July and August and an outdoor pool open between June and September. The site is also dog-friendly.

Local attractions
Saunter off to Veules-les-Roses (45 minutes’ drive), yet another sublime seaside location, and one with half-timbered cottages, tasty oysters and a beach for peaceful swims. Le Havre (45 minutes) is livelier - in fact, the city centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site designed by Auguste Perret and rebuilt after the end of World War II. Chill out at the beach and marina, check out the modern art museum or take a tour of the centre.
In Fécamp itself, you may want to trace the history of cocoa and sink your teeth into the chocolate museum at Hautot Chocolatier (10 minutes’ walk) - quite literally, since tastings are involved. Other interesting sites include the Fisheries Museum (15 minutes), which recounts the city’s fishing traditions and includes boat models, and Palais Bénédictine (10 minutes), a Gothic palace that belongs to the founder of the Benedictine liqueur.
Perhaps you’d like to visit a nature reserve too. Parc Naturel Régional des Boucles de la Seine Normande (55 minutes) is by no means small. There are forests, swamps, farmland and castles across the reserve, as well as a Fruit Trail and Thatched Cottage Trail.
