Disliked After 8pm, the gates are closed and the bell goes unanswered. Following delays at Dover and Dunkirk, we arrived very late but we were not expecting to have everything locked up at Les Escales and not even a response to the after hours bell. After ringing a few times and waiting, we ended up having to take a risk and stay at an aire. Not ideal for overnight safety! We parked by other vehicles, under lights in a camera zone but we still had our door opened at 5 am. Luckily, we woke up and scared away whoever did it...but considering we saw 5 hooded people running away, it could have been an absolutely disastrous night.

Les Escales is not huge - they know someone has booked a pitch and they knew we were arriving but they didn't even bother to answer the bell or open the gate. Honor your bookings or don't bother to advertise spaces. Not allowing people to stay when they have booked puts people in danger.

Liked Very friendly welcome and the location in the woods was stunning

Disliked There was no data signal via the mobile network and the Wi-Fi coverage was very poor/non-existent.

Liked A sweet petite campsite that felt very safe for a female solo traveller. The owner/manager was really welcoming and helpful and even managed to find spare tent pegs when I realised I had forgotten mine and there was nowhere to buy any!

Lots of friendly Dutch families, very quiet and peaceful site, totally silent after 11pm! A nice place for children.

Pitches separated by bushes and very private.

Communal shower block, toilets and sinks were simple, no fuss. Most campers had a van or chalet so not many using the facilities.

I didn't get to try out the swimming pool because it was raining when I arrived. The restaurant/bar was cute and had pizza's, ham and chips and chicken.

Good wifi.

Friendly local cat made the stay for me and we shared tuna for dinner :) A pleasant stay.

Disliked Everything. Poor welcome, being overcharged. Pitches too small for sprinter camper, so absolutely no good for larger motor homes. 95% residential. Nothing like described by pitch up!

Liked We have stayed at camp sites recommended by Pitchup for several years and have always found the sites to be excellent. The descriptions given on the Pitchup web site are always accurate and give information about the sites facilities, which is just what we need.
Our 1 night stay at Camping Les Escales, was just lovely, with staff being helpful and keen to please at all times. The site is operated by very competent staff who work hard to please and this is reflected in the atmosphere around the camp.
The site has a small outdoor leisure pool, which suited us fine.
The facilities are typical of campsites in France and are really clean and well looked after.
The location suited our holiday plans and was within easy access to the major road routes passing through France and close to the lovely village of Louviers.
As usual, we will be booking with Pitchup next year to reserve sites which are near the planned route of the Tour de France, which is easy to do using the search facility of the website

Liked Super freundlicher Empfang. Schöner, grüner Platz, sauberer Pool. Perfekt für die Durchreise.

Disliked Sanitäre Anlagen und Spielplatz sind schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen.

Liked We stayed here on route to Portugal in a campervan and found the site was quiet, well laid out and with a basic but friendly restaurant.
Pitches are spacious and have hedge screening between for added privacy and tree coverage to help stay cool.
Showers were basic but free.

Disliked As we had stayed here on our outwards trip, we booked to stay on our return.
However, due to a crash on a French motorway we were slightly delayed in our arrival time and rang ahead to notify the site owners. They told us that they would not admit us even though we were only 45 mins late due to circumstances beyond our control. We had already paid so lost money.
Very unhelpful and unsympathetic.
Take toilet roll as this is not provided and the toilets were not the best in terms of hygiene.

Times are clearly indicated before booking. Please indicate when booking that you will arrive 1 hour after closing. Our private establishment ensures the tranquility of campers and limits late arrivals. Sincerely
