Electric grass pitch (privilege, riverside)

Liked: Very spacious pitch overlooking the Seine. Although it was a fairly big site it was very quiet (beginning of September). Toilets and shower facilities good and kept clean.

Disliked: Nothing

Electric grass pitch (comfort)

Liked: Enjoyed this year as much as last. Wonderful pools. Clean facilities. Good location for nearby Giverny and castle We were allocated a good, large lakeside pitch.

Disliked: Road noise starts early. Power trips out easy, worse than our other 6 amp sites. Did not find the quality of the food very good in the restaurant

Electric grass pitch (comfort)

Liked: Stunning location, overlooked by the castle and by the river. Our pitch was next to the lake with beavers swimming it it! A delightful stroll by the river Seine took you to the pretty town. We drove to Monet's garden and Vernon on half am hour. The toilets and showers were very clean and appeared quite new, with hairdryers. We loved the swimming pools and the kids had fun on the inflatable slide. I recommend the Normandie cider, the burger and pizzas in the bar.

Disliked: The showers were too hot with no means to controlling the temperature. More French food in the restaurant. They did not publicise well that on a Friday they do mussels, so I missed out disappointingly. I did not find the shop if their was one

Local attractions

If in any doubt about the top local attraction, look up: Château Gaillard towers over the place from 90 metres up, as it has since the late 12th century. It's all in ruins now, but very much worth the hike up for some splendid views over the Seine. There are several more handsome historic buildings around town if you fancy taking a tour, and the World War II-themed Musée De Tosny is a five-minute drive away on the other side of the river. History’s seen a long list of famed names come this way for artistic inspiration – if you're in need of a little of that, plot a course for Lyons-la-Forêt (25 minutes' drive), a pretty little village that’s provided fodder for Renoir’s paintings and Ravel’s music. Anyone who’s ever admired Monet’s paintings of water lilies won’t want to miss a trip to Giverny (25 minutes) to see the gorgeous gardens in real life. Vernon (20 minutes) and Rouen (50 minutes) are also worth a trip for those that can't get enough of the history of the hereabouts. Should the nippers be tiring of such outings, venture to Val-de-Reuil (half an hour) for a zoo, an indoor play park and a lake with beach and watersports centre.
