Cabanes du Bois Clair is a glamping site two kilometres north of the village of Ranchot, in the Jura region. Besançon, an fortified town with an 18th-century Old Town and several tourist attractions, is 20 kilometres away. Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to do in the local area: walk to the remains of a 14th-century village in the Forest of Chaux, explore the countryside on horseback or take a climbing or canyoning trip. This area was once an important one for salt mining, and visitors can now learn about why this was such a vital business at the area's saltworks museums before soaking in a thermal bath. There are also several interesting caves to explore within a half-hour drive. The site's treehouses have been built up to 10 metres off the ground and each has a private deck where you can sit to listen to the birds singing or watch the wildlife in the forest canopy. You can also prebook a professional massage in your treehouse or on the deck. For food, there are a few restaurants in the village and a supermarket around three kilometres away. You'll have breakfast delivered to your treehouse each morning, and it's also possible to preorder hot and cold meals at other times. The treehouses don't have water or electricity but each one has a dry toilet on the deck.
