Gamping Montholier

Plan a day out in Poligny (10 minutes’ drive) if you’re keen to try the region’s popular cheese, aged in the town cellars, or sip on some wine made by the local producers. The town has access to the GR59, a nice selling point for hikers, and, if that doesn't take your fancy, there are plenty of restaurants where you shouldn't find it hard to track down a tasty meal and/or a good view. Lons-le-Saunier (25 minutes) is famed for its brine springs used since Neolithic times and 19th-century thermal baths. With the river Vallière running through the centre of town, perhaps you will want to make time for a pretty riverside picnic at Parc des Bains. It also has a vintage car museum. Grottes des Moidons (half an hour) is a little different from the scenic towns above. Guided tours will take you through the grand underground caves to spy stalagmites, stalactites and bats. Finally, Dole (35 minutes) is a nice way to round off your trip to the Jura Mountains, with its stunning basilica, museum of fine arts and small museum (Musée Pasteur) dedicated to French microbiologist Louis Pasteur. A theatre, water park and a small park with boars and Japanese deer are also on hand.
