Electric grass pitch

Liked: Quite location

Disliked: Never used the club house thing, pitches were over grown, the toilet block if you could call it that needs to be bulldozed!

Electric grass pitch

Liked: A delightful, beautiful, peaceful site in the middle of nowhere, it seems, and yet connected to loads of gorgeous countryside and villages. It is obviously on a cross country ski route! A small site with a fabulous auberge with a restaurant, bar, takeaway and extremely friendly and hospitable hosts. We loved it!

Disliked: Our only slight concern was the chemical toilet facility which seemed too close to washing up and fresh water facilities. I felt uncomfortable using it. It was also confusing as to which washroom was to be used by whom! I should have asked!

Local attractions

If the children (or you) are into wildlife, head to the Parc Polaire (25 minutes’ drive), where you might pretend to be in Alaska or Lapland as you spot reindeer and bison. For a more hands-on approach, the Parc animalier du Hérisson (35 minutes) allows the kids to get up close and personal with miniature ponies and dwarf goats. The collection at the Musée du jouet de Moirans-en-Montagne (45 minutes) spans millennia, with an Egyptian doll from the 16th century BC, medieval toys and vintage teddy bears, plus traditional toys from the Jura region. Plage de la Mercantine (45 minutes), on the Lac de Vouglans reservoir, is a picture-perfect spot for an afternoon by the water. Explore the wooded coves along the shore by pedal boat (you can hire one at the marina), then be sure to drive to the Belvedere Vouglans Dam (50 minutes), at the southernmost tip of the lake, for far-reaching views.
