  • Peaceful site in seven hectares of woods with direct beach access
  • A five-minute drive or 10-minute bike ride to the centre of Calvi
  • Bar-restaurant, communal barbecue, tennis court and play area
What a sweet setting this is… Camping Dolce Vita is spread over seven hectares of natural surroundings in Haute-Corse, just where the Figarella River meets the Mediterranean shoreline near Calvi. And it gets even better when you hear that there’s direct access to Calvi’s beach… and a marina on site for those who’d like to bring a boat along… and that it’ll only take you a few minutes to cycle to Calvi’s shops, restaurants and activities (jetskiing, windsurfing, sea kayaking, diving and boat tours among them). The campsite here has been thriving since 1968 – and yes, over that time they’ve learned a few things about keeping guests happy while still preserving the peaceful natural atmosphere of the place (this being greatly helped by the presence of more than 70 species of Mediterranean trees on site to provide plenty of shade). With that in mind, the site has a handful of leisure facilities (including a play area and a tennis court), handy amenities (including a toilet/shower block, a grocery store, a communal barbecue area and a free wifi connection) and a bar-restaurant for long, leisurely meals, pizzas or cool drinks. It’s likely that you’ll spend much of your time here bouncing around between the beach and the streets of Calvi, but if you do decide to venture a little further there’s plenty to see and do around the surrounding Balagne area – it’s packed with forests, beaches, vineyards and lovely little villages to explore.

Local attractions

You’ll want to start in Calvi (five minutes’ drive) of course – it’s got a stunning long sandy beach with plenty of watersports activities for the energetic and sun loungers to hire for the not-so-energetic. Follow the beach along to the far end to get to the centre of the historic town, for a walk around its ramparts, its cobbled streets and its cathedral (where you should certainly try to catch one of the concerts of polyphonic singing). Work up an appetite for a meal back in town with a half-hour walk up to Notre Dame Della Serra, on a hilltop above the centre – there are some spectacular views from here, and you’ll often hear live music being played too. For a more leisurely outing, take the little train to L’Île-Rousse (or drive in 20 minutes) for three sandy beaches and some great places to eat. If you’re all about the beaches, mix it up with outings to Plage de l’Arinella and Algajola (10 minutes’ drive) or Bodri (15 minutes), a secluded white-sand beach accessible only on foot.
