General

  • Quiet site on a 280-hectare lake between Champagne and Burgundy
  • Outdoor pool, heated indoor pool, sauna and Jacuzzi
  • Waterskiing, wakeboarding and windsurfing on the lake

Lake views, watersports activities, kilometres and kilometres of walking and cycling trails... You could use this splendid site as a stopover on journeys from Calais to Frejus and the south or, better still, you could treat yourself to an extended stay – there's certainly heaps to keep you entertained there, and Burgundy and the south of the Champagne region are positively bubbling with stuff to do.

With views over a splendid lake and the cathedral and citadel of Langres, six kilometres in the distance, this is a fine spot for a getaway with the fam. You'll have direct access to a smashing 280-hectare lake where you can try your hand at watersports pursuits such as waterskiing, wakeboarding and windsurfing; for a gentler time on the lake rent a pedal boat and paddle your way slowly around the shoreline.

The beaut outdoor pool has a waterslide, and the heated indoor pool has panoramic views over the lake – spot on for shaded swims or rainy days. And when all the swimming and splashing around becomes too much, just remember that the sauna and Jacuzzi are a grand place to chill out.

For betwixt-swim sustenance, hang out on the site's restaurant terrace, which looks out over the pool area – just the job for those times when you want to do grownup stuff like sipping on fine wines and scoffing French cheeses while simultaneously keeping a eye on the kids.

For other food options, pick up a few picnic treats at the well-stocked on-site supermarket, or order bread and pastries from the bakery for breakfast feasts or picnic hamper packups ready for day trips out around the region... Speaking of which, tourist info is very well organised here, and delivered enthusiastically by a friendly multilingual team; they highly recommend you rent a mountain bike on site and pedal your way around the local countryside while you're here, or join one of the 15 kilometres of hiking trails that begin on site or take you along the Burgundy Canal.

Please note

Twin axle vehicles are not permitted on site.

The indoor swimming pool is open between 01/04 and 30/09.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 15/06 and 15/09 (subject to weather conditions).

Beautiful location with fantastic views from both the pitch and the pool & restaurant area.
Fair size pitch with direct water & drain disposal which was great.
Reasonably busy but was still quite and very relaxing.
    Staff friendly.
Pool clean and slide was a big hit with kids & big kids too.
Restaurant food good quality when we are in. Take away pizzas though were poor.
We stayed for a 2 night stop over on our way south but there is plenty to do would defiantly stay again. This time for a little longer. Lake has great floating activity park, and you can cycle round it's about 16km, flat. Walled city also visible from the campsite looked lovely but we did not have time to explore this time.

The site is great. Awesome views. Nice swimming pools and a slide for the kids, and big kids :) Food was good. Dijon is a stunning place.

    Disliked:

Some child had pooped in the indoor pool. It was floating around for quite some time. We mentioned it to the staff and was told it would be sorted. The next day it was still there but had broken down into many pieces with small children swimming around it. A massive Health and Safety issue. The pool should have been closed down as soon as i had mentioned it the first time and cleaned out.

Are rooms looked clean although the bedding was full of pet hair and children's pillow had blood all over it. Things like bedding should NOT be over looked.

This did make me wonder what else they ignore on site.

Staff were very helpful, facilities were excellent, shop was good at supplying the essentials and fresh bread everyday. Hired bikes for the morning and they were great. Showers were clean and plenty of hot water, even had soap to wash your hands. Best bit for us was the large lake to walk and cycle around.

    Disliked:

The pitch wasnt level and in August it is a bit busy and noisy.

From the manager...

thank you very much for your comments. We are glad that you had a nice stay on our camp site. We are sorry that your pitch wasn't level, and we will give you a better pitch next time.
Best regards
Claudia

We arrived at 9 pm and had to collect the relevant information from the bar - the bar staff were very busy and there appeared to be only a few of them. However, once we finally got to the front of the queue, the staff member was extremely helpful and friendly. Food service was just closing but we managed to order a meal to take away, which was delicious. We were lucky enough to find a vacant pitch with a view of the lake which was lovely to admire whilst breakfasting, although not all pitches would have had such a pleasant outlook. However, we were impressed with the lovely view and the excellent pool area which looked inviting but, unfortunately, we did not have time to take advantage of.
The reception staff who dealt with us in the morning was very pleasant and we had a pleasant overnight stop at this site.
From the brief glimpse we got of the nearby town of Langres, it looked like a very interesting old town which we would have loved to explore had we had the time.

    Disliked:

From the very brief one night stay we had, the only negative comment would be the lack of staff in the bar/restaurant which may have been problematic if this was a regular experience for campers every evening during a longer stay.

From the manager...

thank you very much for your comments. We are glad that you had a good stay on our camp site and we hope that you will stay longer next time. We are sorry about the waiting time at the restaurant and we will do everything to improve our services.
Best regards
Claudia

Local attractions

The Haute-Marne department, in Champagne's south, is characterised by gentle hills crossed by canals and dotted with huge lakes, all punctuated by historic villages, towns and cities, making the area around Camping Lac de la Liez great for a holiday that has a good mix of the outdoors, culture, history and, of course, gastronomy.

Five kilometres from base is the award-winning walled citadel Langres; once a military stronghold, it's full to the brim with bastions, ramparts and fortifications, as well as several pretty churches – good for an easy and relaxing day trip out from the site.

Other spots worth visiting within 25 kilometres include Fayl-Billot, famed for its basket-making heritage; Nogent and its historic cutlery manufacturing industry; and the contemporary art exhibition at Auberive Abbey.
