Is it to be château spotting, wine tasting or hiking? It’s often a dilemma deciding what to do on Loir-et-Cher camping holidays, but when you stay at Camping Le Gué on the outskirts of Chémery, you can easily do all three, as elegant Loire castles like Cheverny, a multitude of vineyards and the pine forests of the Sologne are all within half an hour’s drive. Of course, you can choose not to do any of the above and simply laze away summer days on this peaceful, family-friendly site. Play ping-pong with the teens, let toddlers run around at the playground, and cool off in the heated swimming pool (there’s also a paddling pool for non-swimmers). Top up your tan on the sun deck or head to the bar for ice cream, snacks and a glass or two of chilled rosé. Camping Le Gué borders the Renne river and a pond where anglers can test their skill. Frequent fishing competitions are held on site (there’s a small fee to enter), while you can also get your teeth into weekly Touraine wine-tasting sessions, participate in pétanque challenges and enjoy local specialities like Selles-sur-Cher goat’s cheese and pork rillons sausages on communal barbecue days. If you feel like a quiet day with the family, borrow board games and books from the on-site library and settle down together on your grass pitch (shaded or sunny options are both available).

Disliked Mixed toilets a bit odd. Consisted of four urinals and two cubicals in the same room. So ladies have to walk past men using the urinal to get to a cubical.

Liked Friendly staff, lots of options to spend the time there (pool, mini zoo, pound where fishing is allowed, etc). By car you can easily reach bigger supermarkets or the castles in the region.
The toilets and showers were clean but a renovation would be nice.

Disliked Some guests don't respect the quiet hours so sometimes it can become noisy at night.
There are no indicators to ladies' and gentlemen's toilets so it happens many times that men come and use the ladies' toilets and showers, which leads at times to big queues.

Liked Grandchildren loved the pool. Hosts were very helpful. Having a bar and cafe was good and we ate on our second night. Had problems with electric hook up as our cable not long enough but host provided and extension and when that didn't't work provided the correct adaptor. Visited Zooparc de Beauval which is great and fairly close - 25 minutes.

Liked Nice quiet little camp with a pool and good toilet and shower block. Friendly staff. Well located to visit the towns and chateau in the region.

Disliked Pitches are a little tight but big enough. We have a large caravan.

Liked Very happy with the welcome and services. Nice little campsite. We enjoyed our stay.

Disliked Would prefer the drinking water taps and hoses to be in separated from the chemical toilet location for hygiene reasons.

Regarding water, there is a fountain and a tap on the campsite that are accessible to everyone, and there is also drinking water in the dishwashing areas. We do not have any non-drinking water points on the camp site, so there must have been a misunderstanding.

So you want to bag a few Loire Valley châteaux? Start your discovery tour with the sumptuous apartments and Tintin exhibition at 17th-century Château de Cheverny (20 minutes’ drive). Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Bookings cannot be amended within 30 day(s) of arrival.

A valid vaccination certificate must accompany your dog.
