Pack your walking shoes, your watersports gear and your camera – it’s time for a fabulous fresh-air getaway at Camping Les Étangs. This peaceful tree-filled site makes a wonderful base for a Brittany break, in a handy location on the edge of the village of La Richardais (putting you just a few minutes’ walk from a shop and bakery) and close to the banks of the Rance river (for those watersports and waterside walks). This spot, within the Vallée de la Rance - Côte d'Émeraude Regional Natural Park, is well located for a holiday that mixes up rural pursuits and coastal time – Dinard is about 10 minutes’ drive away and Saint-Malo 15 minutes. There are also lots of excellent coastal walking trails nearby and cute little traditional villages to explore. In between whichever adventures you choose to fill your days with, you’ll be staying at spacious and shaded pitches that have electric hookup and access to useful facilities including a launderette, a chemical disposal point, a small kitchen and bathrooms with toilets and showers (including accessible facilities). The site also has a playground to keep the kids entertained, and a small café where you can pick up ice creams and hot or cold drinks to keep everyone ticking over. Dogs are welcome on site too, and you should find plenty of places to take them for a nice walk nearby.

Proximity to the village, port, Dinard & Saint Malo

Disliked Showers and toilets were not cleaned daily and as a result the floors were very dirty

Shower head placed way too high up

One of the ladies toilets had water all over the floor for the 3 days we were there. Not cleaned

Toilets were smelly and bins not emptied daily

Chemical discharge & refill point were too close together and we found the refill hosepipe laid across the discharge grill on one occasion

No other source of water was labelled as drinkable so we had to take our water from the sinks

Cafe advertised, did not seem to exist

Not the campsites fault but between the hours of 20.00 & 22.00hrs, youngsters were continually riding loud motorbikes up& down the two adjacent roads of the sports centre

Liked Its situated in a lovely village close to the the ferry port

Disliked We arrived at 5.50 and we were rushed to be checked in as the receptionest wanted to finish work. The plot no she gave us was occupied when we got to it
so had to find a vacant plot ourselves. Our paper work said check in was by 6.30
but reception was closed at 6pm

Liked Petit camping très agréable car environnement calme et ombragé. Convient autant à des camping cars qu’à des petites tentes comme nous.
De plus il y a des équipements sanitaires optimaux (toilettes, douches et espace cuisine).
Les gens de la réception sont accueillants et nous ont envoyé à l’avance les informations nécessaires au cas où nous arrivions en dehors des horaires d’ouverture.
Le prix est extrêmement raisonnable.

Liked Friendly and welcoming staff. Large pitch undervtr es in a heatwave.
Toilet/shower block very good, not new but clean and functional

Disliked One water tap for filling water carrier. Push button and you had to hold up the water container. The water was also to be used to wash out toilet cartridge which were emptied by lifting a flap below.

Local attractions

La Richardais is a nice place to have a wander around, with the Manoli Museum and Sculpture Garden and riverside walks among the highlights. After you’ve explored here, set off to some of the other lovely villages nearby – perhaps Saint-Suliac (15 minutes’ drive), filled with stones houses and flowers that makes it one of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France, or Dol-de-Bretagne (20 minutes), a medieval gem with a spectacular cathedral and lots of gourmet shops. Up at the coast, Dinard (10 minutes) has a sandy beach, a saltwater pool and some attractive Belle Époque villas, and Saint-Malo (15 minutes) has medieval ramparts and the Grand Aquarium Saint Malo as well as a long stretch of sandy beach. Cancale (20 minutes) is another place that should be on your radar – especially if you’re keen on seafood. Elsewhere along the Emerald Coast are lots of wonderful walks with stunning sea views – if you only have time for one, make it the trail around Pointe du Grouin (half an hour), where you’ll see cliffs, heathland and seabirds as you stroll – and on a clear day you may also catch sight of Mont Saint-Michel in the distance.
