It's free, quick and easy!
- Family-friendly site on the stunning Brittany coast
- Sandy beach; long-distance hikes and bike rides within 5 mins' walk
- Indoor pool, outdoor pool with slides, bike hire, babysitting service
Camping Côté Ô Port Manech might be in Brittany’s Finistère department, but the site – five minutes’ drive from the town of Névez and half an hour from the nearest city (Quimper) – is far from the ends of the earth.
The site’s well placed for all sorts of adventures: active types should start in the saddle for lengthy spins along country roads and through pretty Breton villages on la Névezienne cycle route (bike hire on site) or by taking a stroll along the coast on the GR 34, both joinable five minutes’ stroll away.
For more sedate days, opt for whiling away hours on the sandy beach an easy five-minute walk from base: it’s a top spot for swimming, watersports and lazing in the sun, and the site team runs yoga sessions there for anyone who needs a little more namaste in their day.
There’s plenty on site to keep the whole family busy too: spending some time splashing around the two pools is a must, as is zooming down the waterslides, and there’s pétanque and ping pong for those more comfortable on dry land.
A whole host of evening entertainment is available too, so call up the babysitting service after dinner (a food truck service regularly appears on site for takeaway bites, and the team will gladly recommend restaurants when asked), and toddle along for karaoke, dancing, game night and evening shows.

Local attractions
When everyone’s tired of beach days and coastal adventures (philistines…), turn backs (mostly) to the ocean and wander inland for days among pretty villages and wandering city streets.
Start with trips poking around the scenic villages of Kerascoët and Kercanic within 10 minutes' drive, where traditional stone houses with thatched roofs line quiet streets. Travel on from there to the spectacular Pont-Aven (15 minutes away), the one-time home to Paul Gaugin and now home to a museum of fine arts, a gallery and artists’ studios, and local cakes that come highly recommended.
If ready to graduate to towns, make a brief return coastwards and put into port 25 minutes from base at Concarneau – the ‘blue city’ of Brittany – for stops at the museums and aquarium, and (if stays are well-timed) the famed Festival des Filets Bleus. While in the area, claim a spot on deck for the crossing to the nearby Glénan Islands; they’re called the Breton Tahiti for a reason…
City days are within 35 minutes in Quimper, where medieval houses and narrow streets, castles, gardens and cathedral vie with shops, breweries, distilleries and restaurants for attention. Can't choose? Explore it all, or bypass the city altogether for a day just outside its walls at the stunning Château de Keriolet.
