  • Well-equipped Landrellec Peninsula site with beach access
  • Pleumeur-Bodou 10 minutes’ drive; Lannion 20 minutes
  • Indoor and outdoor pools; restaurant and food shop; fitness centre
When holidaying in Brittany, easy access to the region’s famously wild and rugged coastline is usually a surefire winner. And direct access to the beach is exactly what you get at Camping Liberté Landrellec, on the Landrellec Peninsula. If that’s not quite enough to make you reach for the ‘book now’ button, how’s this for an added bonus? This site sits close to the GR34 trail (romantically known as the Sentier des Douaniers, or the Customs Officers’ Path), so the hikers among you can explore the natural attractions of the Pink Granite Coast on foot, perhaps with your canine companion by your side. Besides hiking, wild swimming and watersports (kayaks can be hired here), there’s plenty to keep guests busy and entertained on site, too, starting with heated outdoor and indoor pools for when the sea is too rough. Scheduling a session at the on-site gym lets you stay on top of your fitness regime; those who are happy to take it a bit easier can arrange a family pétanque tournament or hit the links at the nearby Golf de Saint Samson (10 minutes’ drive). Other on-site amenities include a play area where the kids can tire themselves out while you fire up the barbecue for dinner. In addition to a well-stocked food shop, there’s a vegetable garden that you can use for that field-to-fork vibe – it beats heading to the supermarket, though if you need to do so, there’s one in Trégastel (10 minutes). The restaurant serves simple meals that you can wash down with local beers, plus ice creams and crêpes in the afternoon.

Local attractions

You'll probably be able to entertain yourselves for a good while simply pottering around along the surrounding coastline, perhaps paddling kayaks between the little islands scattered around the bay or simply seeking out one of the many beaches and coves. Head a little way inland and you can explore historic sights like the Dolmen de Kerguntuil (half an hour’s walk) too. The natural landscapes are lovely, of course – but there are some great man-made attractions in nearby towns too, including the Planetarium De Bretagne in Pleumeur-Bodou (10 minutes’ drive), the Aquarium Trégastel in Trégastel (10 minutes) and the Parc des sculptures Christian Gad et Daniel Chhé just outside Ploumanac'h (15 minutes). Leaving the coast behind, Lannion (20 minutes) is nice for a wander around the half-timbered houses. If you can't get enough of the seaside, though, head to Perros-Guirec (20 minutes) for boat tours to Réserve Naturelle des Sept Îles.
