Petit camping familial en pleine nature

Rental tent exterior

  • Small, peaceful campsite on the Breton coast, with access to the GR34
  • Five minutes' drive from Plestin-les-Grèves; 20 minutes from Lannion
  • Pet-friendly policies; 10 minutes' walk from a crêperie
If you're setting off to stay in the Côtes-d’Armor area, it’s fair to guess that you're probably hoping to see the sea… and see the sea you can indeed from Camping Les Hortensias, a simple site backing onto Porz Morvan Bay. This peaceful and scenic stretch of Brittany's Atlantic coast is dotted with excellent bathing beaches, the nearest of which is only a few hundred metres away. Can’t get enough of those coastal views? The ever-popular Côte de Granit Rose (Pink Granite Coast) is a few minutes away by car. Walkers, meanwhile, have direct access to the GR34 trail, and can check out 12 different hiking trails around the Douron Valley to the south, where gorgeous coastal valleys, cliffs and hillsides make for very varied days out. This site's large and well-defined pitches are surrounded by lots of greenery, making Camping Les Hortensias an excellent base for a few days of rural relaxation. Some basic facilities are available here (including accessible toilets and hot showers, a token-powered washing machine and a washing-up area). All the facilities of Plestin-les-Grèves are a five-minute drive away, and you can also walk into town in about half an hour. Handily, there’s a seaside crêperie halfway there should you need to stop and refuel en route, and there are often food trucks in town. Dogs are welcome here, and although Plestin-les-Grèves' beaches are for human guests only, Saint-Michel-en-Grève (10 minutes away) has a stretch of dog-friendly sand that may come in handy.

What customers say

This is a beautiful, rustic campsite set in stunning natural surroundings with direct access to the coast path and a beach. Guests praise the exceptional sea views, peaceful atmosphere, and friendly, helpful staff who offer services like daily bread and evening snacks. Pitches are generally private and shaded. However, several reviews highlight that the toilet and shower facilities are very dated, lack maintenance, and could be cleaner. Some guests also noted issues with overgrown vegetation and uneven pitches.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Warm welcome on arrival. Lovely beach below cliffs. Able to order bread/pastries daily.

Disliked Toilet facilities- these were bad. Only 3 men’s and ladies toilets for this whole site. In quite bad condition, really need replacing.
overgrown pitches - the whole site was quite overgrown, if cut back pitches would have been much bigger. Had to cut some brambles back just to get to electric points. Also many pitches on a slope. The field in the photo on pitch up was fenced off and not in use with a sign saying ‘private’. May not have even been part of this site. Very overcrowded site and crammed in.
I hope there are plans to improve this site as it could be quite nice.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Friendly staff, clean facilities, good view. Reasonable amount of shade.

Disliked Small pitches with awkward access, not suitable for large campervans/motorhomes. Sloping pitches so wedges needed.

Disliked Some pitches are uneven and quiet tight for a larger motorhome.
Although not a direct comment on the site itself, there are no shops or cafes nearby and the town is fourty minutes walk away.

Local attractions

The shoreline is the star around these parts – and there are many gorgeous spots to seek out. Stay close to home for days at places like Plage des Sables Blancs (10 minutes’ drive) or venture a little further for walks around the rocky views of Le Trou du Diable (20 minutes). The pretty pink rocks and lighthouses of Ploumanac’h (40 minutes) and ferry trips to Île de Bréhat (an hour) may be a little further away, but they're worth the trip. There’s history around too: perhaps you’d like to poke around in the megalithic mausoleum Cairn de Barnenez (half an hour) or see a rather more stylish abode in the form of Château de Kerjean (50 minutes). Lannion (20 minutes) has lots of old half-timbered houses to see as you stroll – for the best view, climb the 140 Brélévenez steps to the top of the town. Bring yourselves right back to the here and now with a trip to Karaez Adrénaline (55 minutes) – the adventure park’s treetop courses, zipline and big jump will surely get your heart rate going. Back down at ground level, there’s a great maze for the small ones to explore too.
