  • In a walking and cycling haven near the EuroVelo 6 and Loire à Vélo
  • Green countryside setting two kilometres from Bourbon-Lancy
  • Pool, paddling pool, sports areas and adjoining small lake
If it's Burgundy ambles or bike rides you're after, you'll find the land around Camping de Bourbon-Lancy and Bourbon-Lancy just hiking brilliant. The EuroVelo 6, Tour de Bourgogne à vélo and the Loire à Vélo paths all pass near here to keep you hiking or cycling for lengthy times, and if you seek to trek even further yonder, the famed and mighty Route of Santiago de Compostela or St James's Way also skirts this region (it's a mere 1,400 or so kilometres from here to where the pilgrimage path winds up in Spain). As you'll likely seek luxury after all that promenading, it's mighty handy that Camping de Bourbon-Lancy is just a couple of kilometres from the town of Bourbon-Lancy too, where you can refresh tired feets in the spa, or rejuvenate your weary bod in the town beauty salon. Camping de Bourbon-Lancy is a friendly and peaceful park, surrounded by green Saône et Loire countryside and next to a small recreational lake. It has comfy modern facilities including a summer outdoor pool and paddling pool, and other outdoor options including a playground, a pétanque court, table tennis and a volleyball and badminton court. Organised activities and a kids' club run once or twice a week in July and August. Indoors, knackered hikers can flop down for an idle afternoon or evening at the TV room, or – if not too tuckered out – trot along to the help desk at reception for tips and info on where to venture to next.

Local attractions

Local town Bourbon-Lancy is a good starting point for long days out and about by foot or bike, with many marked trails starting nearby including one through the town and one passing the lake at Breuil. Both these join up with other cycle routes around the Saône-et-Loire region, passing woodland, meadows, rivers and towns. Nearby routes include the spectacular EuroVelo 6 or The Rivers Route, running for over 3,000 kilometres through 10 countries along the Loire, Danube and part of the and upper Rhine, on its passage from France's Atlantic coast to the Black Sea. There's also the Tour de Bourgogne à vélo, along most of Burgundy's 1,000 or so kilometres of marked cycle paths, and the Loire à Vélo's 600 kilometres of path through six French departments: the Camping de Bourbon-Lancy team can point you and your wheels/ hiking boots in the right direction. From Bourbon-Lancy, it's about 25 minutes' drive to the amusement park and zoo of Le PAL, and half an hour to Moulins, the Auvergne town with a famed costume museum.
