  • Family-friendly Normandy farm site near Le Ménil-Ciboult
  • An hour's drive to the coast and Mont Saint-Michel
  • Breakfasts available on site; meet the farm animals during your stay
It’s all about finding a bit of rural relaxation at La Billardière – Audrey and Yann have set up their Lower Normandy site to welcome guests to a peaceful spot with just enough facilities to make things comfortable (without distracting from the calm of the countryside). Come along to this small farm site just outside Le Ménil-Ciboult and you’ll be sharing the space with the residents that call this place home all year round – including goats, sheep, chickens, donkeys, dogs and cats. They’re a friendly bunch, and cute too – if you’re here at the right time you may be able to join in with bottle-feeding lambs. As this is primarily a home for the animals, the site owners have chosen to keep visitor facilities to a minimum, but you’ll have access to compost toilets, a barbecue area and a dog exercise area where your four-legged friends can have a bit of a run around. The nearest supermarket for your barbecue/picnic supplies is five minutes’ drive away in Tinchebray-Bocage, but you can make life even simpler by including breakfast with your booking (delivered fresh to you each morning). There’s also coffee available on site in the mornings to give you a good kickstart. How might you fill your days around here when not fussing over the animals? Well, perhaps a waterfall walk, a château visit or one of the family-friendly adventure activities available nearby? And for those of you who’ve never been before, an outing to Mont Saint-Michel (about an hour’s drive away) should certainly be on the cards…

What customers say

This family-run farm campsite offers a warm welcome and a relaxed atmosphere. Visitors praise the friendly hosts, the beautiful rural location, and the abundance of farm animals, which are particularly enjoyed by children. Basic but functional facilities include hot showers and compost toilets, with some guests recommending the delicious breakfast options. While the natural sounds of farm life are present, many found the site peaceful and enchanting, often expressing a desire to return. A few noted minor issues such as limited lighting in toilets or the need for more electrical hook-up points.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Audrey and Yann gave us a warm welcome to their farm camping and were great hosts throughout our stay. While we'd booked breakfast for the next morning, they kindly let us join in with the evening menu du jour. Another detail most campers will appreciate - it was great to be able to pitch up where we liked. With a view out across the surrounding countryside what was there not to like. / We enjoy the pleasures of simplicity of smaller rural campings and La Billiardière delivered this and more. It's not often we have human neighbours on one side and 2 ostriches on the other. (They were fascinating to see close up and live for longer than any zoo trip allows) Not to mention the donkeys, pony and hens. Yes, the cocks crowed earlyish and the donkeys did their bit too, but, hey, this is a farm! As for the noise we humans make day and night on campsites .../ What else? Quite simply, with Audrey and Yann you are in good hands! Go book yourself a stay at La Balliadère!

Worth a trip !

Electric optional grass tent pitch

Liked A wonderful, relaxed site with fantastic hosts. The animals were a welcome addition but not intrusive in any way. Basic amenities but sufficient.
Peaceful with wonderful scenery and a lovely breakfast brought to the door of my tent.
I had to cut my visit short, but I will definitely be returning in the Summer.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Very welcoming owners even though it was late in December and 7.30pm when I arrived at night. In the morning I awoke to a beautiful house where donkeys and a pony and three sheep wandered happily around with the chickens. I had a very pleasant stay for two nights and I would go back again. Very nice place .

Local attractions

Decided to see a bit more of your rural surroundings? You can do so at a leisurely pace with a stroll around the waterfalls in Mortain (20 minutes’ drive), or at rather higher speed with an adventurous downhill ride at Normandie Luge (half an hour). If that’s got your taste for adrenaline going, there are more exciting antics to get stuck into (ziplines, treetop courses and bungee jumping) at AJ Hackett Normandie adventure park (35 minutes). Back down at ground level, slow the pace with a trip to the Musée régional de la poterie (10 minutes) or a wander around the ruins of Château de Domfront (25 minutes). If such things aren't a hit with the kids, try The Enchanted Village amusement park (20 minutes) instead, or head over to Zoo de Champrépus (45 minutes). The big draw around these parts, however, has to be Mont Saint-Michel (an hour) – the towering abbey on an offshore island is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of France’s most-visited attractions. In summer it stays open until midnight and makes a fine sunset trip.
