General
- Seaside site 20 metres from the D-Day landing beach of Utah
- Heated indoor pool, outdoor pool and paddling pool
- Mini farm, bouncy castle, playground, games room and trampolines
For a spot 20 metres from Utah beach among the spectacular setting of World War II’s Normandy landings... and easy access to Normandy sands, swims and watersports, bagging oneself a pitch at Camping Le Cormoran comes highly recommended.
As well as having a splendid setting among the smashingly scenic lands of the Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin Natural Regional Park for outdoorsy pursuits such as hiking, horse riding and fishing, this site’s locale also has lots of historic spots to explore without guests needing to venture too far.
But when remaining very comfortably on base, there’s more than plenty to do too. When water-based activity calls, park yourself alongside the pretty pool to bask under the Normandy skies, or switch to the pool indoors when you'd like to save your skin from the French sun.
Small peeps have plenty to do, with a paddling pool, playground with a bouncy castle and trampolines all on site... along with pedal karts to race about in, and a games room with table football, a pinball machine and ping pong tables. And there’s yet more: littlies will likely be beside themselves when they discover the site’s mini farm, where they can make the acquaintance of the resident goats and other cute critters.
Aside from all the above, activities for offspring of all ages are arranged during the summer months, as are activities for all ages including horse riding, archery, fishing excursions and concerts, dances and themed evenings.

Local attractions
The famed sands of Utah beach are a mere 20 metres away, and several other historic D-Day sites are also a cinch from Camping Le Cormoran, including the Airborne Museum and annual D-Day commemorations in Sainte-Mère-Eglise, the German batteries near the village of Saint-Marcouf, and the seafront Utah Beach Museum. Further afield, Cherbourg’s port and the 17 aquariums and sea-themed exhibitions of the town’s maritime museum are well worth the 40-minute drive.
Peeps partial to a spot of putting are also well catered to around here, with the spectacularly scenic 18-hole course of Golf de la Presqu'île du Cotentin an easy 15-minute drive away in Fontenay-sur-Mer, with a green that stretches across 60 acres and provides smashing vistas out over Hougue Bay.
For outdoor activity elsewhere, Camping Le Cormoran’s setting among the Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin Nature Park provides plenty of options: there’s an overnight carp fishing trail at Chef-du-Pont, 20 minutes away by car, and a horse riding centre in Sainte-Mère-Eglise should one fancy hopping atop a horse for an equine adventure.
Watersports are within easy reach too, with sand yachting on Utah beach available from a centre in Sainte-Marie-du-Mont.
