Now this is a smashing setting… The Pyrénées-Atlantiques site Camping Erreka is on the Basque coast 800 metres from the sands and a town centre, just north of Bidart and a piffling four kilometres from the splendid seaside town of Biarritz, known for its surfing and its casinos.
The site is set over six hectares in a wooded area, and has a heated pool available in high season, a playground, a pétanque court, table tennis and a kids' club. Entertainment is available in July and August. The site also has a central building with a bar and snack bar for quick bites and drinks, and a restaurant dishing up meals whose very pics might make your mouths water…
A bakery, a delicatessen shop, a bus line, a supermarket and a beauty salon are all within walking distance, and the area is in a splendid spot for nearby surfing, quad biking, hiking, golf and coastal strolls.

Local attractions
Sporty sorts can make merry in the area around Camping Erreka, particularly if they're of the watery variety: diving and rafting as well as surfing are all popular here. Biarritz these days is a well-known surf town and holds one of the biggest surf festivals in Europe at the Biarritz Surf Festival.
Nine-hole and 18-hole golf courses are both near the site, along with quad bike hire and a treetop adventure park. You could also (or should also) investigate the town of Bidart, a quieter type than its flashier neighbour Biarritz, and amble the coastal path/hike one of the region's many trails.
The city of Bayonne is famed for its summer festivals, its Basque architecture, its bridges and its Gothic Cathédrale Sainte-Marie; also a short drive away, Biarritz has much to see alongside its beaches and casinos, such as its Asiatica Museum, Museum of the Sea and – tasty – the Museum of Chocolate.
