The countryside town of Casteljaloux should be an early sightseeing/leisurely stop, for half-timbered buildings in the town centre, a thermal spa for deserved pampering, and access to the Lac de Clarens with lakeside beach and leisure centre with golf course. If you're fine with falling into the water more than expected, tackle the inflatable obstacle course on the surface of the lake at AquaFun Park Clarens; if not, chance your odds at Lac de Clarens's Casino Casteljaloux or try a paddleboarding trip or tree climbing adventure on and around the water. Grownup and kid-friendly pursuits are within 30 to 35 minutes' drive, at the Armagnac vineyards around Nérac for the former and the rides and rollercoasters of Walibi Sud-Ouest at Roquefort for the latter. Villascopia, the Gallo-Roman site and interactive museum 35 minutes away at Castelculier, should suit all sorts. For wildlife watching, look out for deer, kingfishers, birds of prey and wild boar among the hiking and cycling paths of Landes Forest.
