  • Peaceful and welcoming site a short drive from Mimizan and the coast
  • Surf school plus beach and forest horse rides within 15 minutes' drive
  • Spacious and shaded pitches plus outdoor ping pong tables and pétanque
A short drive from the seaside resort of Mimizan and several fab Atlantic coast beaches, backed by a dense pine forest and within easy reach of the Landes de Gascogne Regional Natural Park lies Camping L'Estival, in the Landes department of south-western France. Previous guests attest that you'll get a super friendly welcome from the site’s accommodating owners when you arrive on site (plus attentive service all the way throughout your stay)... And whether you want to spend your days lolling around at the park, getting active by the sea or day tripping around the Bordeaux vineyards that lie around the land, you’re more than well sorted for fun stuff to do around these parts. To ensure the kids remain well amused while on site – and that you can enjoy lounging around in the shade without having to worry what they’re up to – there’s a playground and a games room, as well as outdoor ping pong tables and a pétanque court right next door. During high season, the L'Estival team organises fun stuff like pétanque tournaments and evening entertainment in the form of karaoke nights and gigs to keep everyone in the fam happy during their hols. Snacky supplies (and a friendly vibe) are easily sorted for days when you want to stick around the park, at the snack bar and the handy little grocery shop that sells essentials.

Local attractions

Several smashing beaches that stretch across a total of 10 kilometres lie along the Atlantic coast in and around Mimizan, with a popular family beach in the middle of Mimizan and longer quieter beaches backed by sand dunes to the north and south of the resort. Have a horse ride through the forest or along the beach from a riding centre in Mimizan, three kilometres away, or sign up for surf school over at l'Espécier beach, around 15 minutes’ away by car; this secret spot is far away from the crushing crowds, and thus a good place to take to the waves without the fear of embarrassing oneself in front of a hoard of sunbathers. Over at Biscarrosse, within an hour’s drive, lies the France’s second largest lake; surrounded by greenery and pine forests and bordered by fine sandy beaches and a splendid cycling trail, this lake has calm crystalline waters with lots of shallow areas near the shoreline and two lifeguarded swimming areas, making it an utterly smashing spot for a fun family day out. The three main areas are La Conche d’Ispe, close to the golf course; Navarrosse with its marina and watersports activities; or Maguide with yet more marinas and watersports activities, as well as a vast beach, restaurants, and kid-friendly fun. And as you might expect from a lake as big as this, fishing is available around here too.
