Camping En Chon Les Pins

There's so much to do in this locale you'll likely need to divide your time into days at the beach, days at the lake, days hiking or pedalling through the Landes pine forest – and then there are the several golf courses around to tee off at too... The Atlantic seasidey resort local to Camping En Chon Les Pins is Biscarrosse, part of a pretty much unbroken run of sandy beach stretching all the way up to the Pyrenees. It's an unpretentious and laidback resort popular with families because of its safe bathing, and for watersporters to come to surf, kitesurf and bodyboard. Bikes can be hired too to cycle along the flat paths from the beach and around to the lakes and the pine forest. About 30 kilometres from Biscarrosse is Arcachon Bay, between the Côte d'Argent and the Côte des Landes. In its centre is the Île aux Oiseaux/Island of Birds, a place of calm waters and sandy beaches (the wild waves of the Atlantic are ten kilometres from here if you want to tackle some proper surf). If you're up with the lark and up for a day trip, drive along to Bordeaux and its vineyards for the day, about 80 kilometres from base.
