Come to Camping La Comtesse if you want a family-friendly place to stay with lots of greenery in the Landes region and excellent facilities – and a rather spectacular waterpark too. The waterpark, set up next to the pond and open during high season only, has two swimming pools as well as a waterslide with three lanes. More bathing – from a beach – is at the splendidly named Lac De Sames-Domaine Des Nymphes, about nine kilometres away; the Landes coast is half an hour's drive away and has popular destinations like Hossegor and Capbreton. On land and on site, kids have a bouncy castle, trampoline and swings, as well as a kids' club (during high season only) to keep them busy. There's table tennis and table football for competitive hours, a snack bar (during high season only) and barbecue areas to sort out the food. Activities run every day, and musical entertainment is held on some evenings between mid-July and mid-August. The facilities block has showers, sinks, toilets, washing-up sinks and a laundry corner with sinks. There's also a facility room designed for disabled guests with a shower, toilet and sink, as well as a family room with baby-changing facilities and a baby bathtub. A chemical disposal point and water supply point are on site; additional points are approximately 800 metres from the site.

  • No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.
  • The outdoor swimming pool is open between 15/06 and 15/09 (subject to weather conditions).
  • The restaurant is open between 01/07 and 31/08.
  • Entertainment and activities are available between 08/07 and 27/08.
  • Discount cards and gift vouchers cannot be applied to bookings made via Pitchup.com.
  • Reception is unmanned after 6:30 p.m.. Please inform the site while on your way there should you expect to arrive after this time, so that the team can provide information about your unit/pitch.
  • It is only possible to empty grey waste and top up water tanks 800m away from, rather than at, the campsite.

Disliked De plaats, er werd eerst voorgesteld naast de sanitaire blok alhoewel bijna heel de camping nog leeg was ! Daarna aan de ingang, helemaal apart van andere campeerders. Helemaal niet gezellig .
Sanitaire blok verouderd en vuil.
Sluiting onder middag tot 14h30
Het wordt tijd dat er een automatische incheck mogelijk zoals dat op de meeste campings in Zweden en Denemarken kan!

Liked The campsite was in a quiet hamlet away from main roads. It had a good pool, and slides for the kids. The trees surrounding the site gave good coverage of shade.

Disliked Uneven tent pitches which I imagine are from motor homes coming and going during the day and leaving divots in the ground. A little noisy even after curfew.

Camping La Comtesse is 25 kilometres from the Landes coast and 40 kilometres from the Spanish border, in an area with 202 buildings listed as historical monuments, plus many old towns, abbeys and local festivals. An equestrian centre is three kilometres away, and canoeing is available within 10. The spa and market town of Dax, known for its warm waters and muddy treatments since the time of the Romans, is 12 kilometres north of the site. After being slathered, wander around the town to see its Fontaine Hot, its fourth-century ramparts, 13th-century cathedral and the formal gardens of the town's Parc du Sarrat – do remember to wash your visage first… To the south-west of Dax lies Bayonne, six kilometres from the Atlantic and north of Biarritz. Its old town centre is one of the protected French Historic Towns: potter around its cobbled streets to see the half-timbered buildings fronting the Nive river, the town cathedral and the tall Basque houses painted in green and red.
