You see, this small, quiet and family-friendly campsite is based in La Hume in Gironde, just five minutes’ walk from the town's beach, which is lined with tamarisk and pine trees. Access is through a gate located at the bottom of the site, so families, couples and friends have easy access to the fine sand and the water (which handily has supervised swimming). You might want to leave your car behind, as the site is also a 10-minute walk and a five-minute train (in total, a 15-minute journey) from the centre of Arcachon (a shopping hub with gorgeous 19th-century villas and a lively shopping quarter). In the other direction, Gujan-Mestras (a 10-minute walk and a five-minute train – 15 minutes in total) is a hub for oyster farming and has clusters of tasty oyster restaurants. Adventurous sorts can jump right into watersports in Arcachon Bay, whether they fancy sailing on a catamaran, windsurfing or surfing. Liked Very very friendly on arrival, but no Wi-Fi, or waste dump for motorhomes. The lady was extremely helpful and allowed us to cancel. Very well located for the train into Bordeaux.

Disliked Facilities are not available and the site is priced to highly for the facilities that are available.

Liked Petit camping 2 étoiles simple mais propre (sanitaires...coin vaiselles...) avec de beaux emplacements mais sans réelle séparation et assez bien placé( au calme), proche de la plage et proche de la station de bus/gare pour rejoindre Arcachon ou Pyla sur mer( attention peu d'horaires...)
La responsable du camping est une personne pétillante , accueillante, dynamique et très sympathique.

Disliked le seul hic est que la barrière ferme à 20h..... ce qui signifie que vous devez être rentrer avant 20h....:(raison pour laquelle nous n' y retournerons certainement pas.... ) à 10 minutes à pied , vous pouvez aller manger chez Chai Nina ( excellent bar à huîtres que nous avons testé 2 fois) ou les richesses d'Arguin ( que nous n'avons pas testé mais dont on nous a parlé)
je crois que l'électricité est à 18 euros par jour: excessif.....: pas pris

Disliked Check-in as late as5pm. The price. No hot water in sinks to shave. No map of the site. Showers dated and medieval. Should be no more than 15€ per night.

Liked My partner and I visited late August 2025, staying in our VW Camper.

I loved this site. It’s a back to basics, no frills site. Very quiet.

Level, secluded pitches. Shade provided by mature trees.

Vehicle access is easy, but note that the owner manually operates the entry barrier, if you drive out for the day, you have to be back by 8:00pm. If you walk…. no issues, you just walk round the barrier.

Hook up uses UK 3 pin.

Always take your own loo roll, soap and towels to the facilities as these are not provided.

Friendly owner.

2 minute walk to a most gorgeous, quiet beach where we watched guys kite surfing.

6 minute walk to a harbour with two or three restaurants staffed by really friendly teams.

10 minute walk to the train station from where you can catch a service to Arcachon. Travel time to Arcachon is 10 minutes. Hourly service, even on a Sunday. Train times given via Google search were completely reliable, so you can base yourself in Le Hume but easily enjoy Arcachon.

I would definitely return to this site

Liked Le camping est au top, nous avons été trés bien accueilli par la personne de l'accueil.
Il n'est pas loin de tout, nous avons tout fait à vélo c'est le top! Plage au bout c'est parfait! Je recommande fortement!

Liked Pitch with elec hookup was perfectly fine & a good size.

Disliked Unfortunately the gates were locked at 8pm with no incoming access after this time. As a campervan user this restricted us to being back at base by 8pm each day. The location then limited us to a few average restaurants in locality for dinner. Nothing on-site.

Shower & toilet facilities were outdated, but fairly clean. Not great that they had no hand-soap or toilet paper.

Local attractions

Kids (and big kids) can greet the lambs, calves and piglets at La Coccinelle (35 minutes’ walk). The farm park also has slides, log flume and rollercoasters for a bigger thrill. With more leisure parks and inland lakes in Arcachon (15 minutes’ journey by public transport), this site is set up nicely for family breaks. Being positioned right on the coastal path, there are lots of places your feet can take you, too. Wild landscapes include the Dune of Pilat (around two hours and 20 minutes’ walk), the tallest sand dune in Europe, or the Réserve Ornithologique Du Teich (an hour and 45 minutes’ walk or 15 minutes’ drive), a favourite dwelling spot for a variety of birds. Take the ferry over to Le Phare du Cap Ferret (two hours’ and 35 minutes’ walk and ferry ride) to get some fabulous views of the bay (after climbing 258 steps). Port de la Teste (45 minutes’ walk) is closer by and packed with oyster farmers lugging around oyster sacks, as well as a fair few waterfront oyster restaurants.
