General

  • Family-friendly park by the Céou river
  • A quick drive from three Les Plus Beaux Villages de France
  • Swimming pool with waterslides, paddling pool and kids' club

Three of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France ('the most beautiful villages of France') are within a quick drive of Camping le Céou's nearest village of Saint-Cybranet in the Dordogne. And as there are only 150 or so in the whole of the country, we think that's mighty impressive.

Camping le Céou is also only 14km from Sarlat and is set by the Céou river, so is a tiptop base all round to get stuck into the culture, history and cuisine of this Dordogne river valley and Périgord Noir region. There's plenty to do on site too, such a pool with paddling pool and waterslides, a kids' club, evening entertainment, and a games and TV room. Free wifi is available throughout.

Bites and sups are covered at the restaurant, bar, takeaway and shop, and amenities at the loo and shower block with hot water, baby-changing facilities, a washing-up area and a launderette.

We received a very warm welcome, after a long difficult journey we were not able to set up our tent. Alfie and the rest of the team were brilliant, very accommodating and extremely helpful throughout our stay. I'ts close to many activities and attractions, shops etc. Shower and toilet facilities are good. The river on the edge of the campsite is a real gem, refreshing to swim in and our boys loved the water slide and pool. The pitches are spacious with a great view. We have stayed at quite a few campsites in france and the Dordogne area and this one is really worth a visit,we'll hopefully be back next year! Thanks!

Good campsite with plenty of shaded tent pitches.
Nice pool with a great slide for children.
Good location for exploring Dordogne. Some very good cycle routes nearby.

    Disliked:

Plenty of showers and toilets but very dirty. They were not cleaned daily. Blood (from a child's bleeding nose that I happened to see on the way to the toilet) in one of the sinks for 2 days which confirms that they are not cleaned daily. This really lets the campsite down.

Local attractions

Those three oh-most beautiful villages we mentioned are all a short distance from local village Saint-Cybranet: thirteenth century Domme and the beaut riverside La Roque-Gageac, both four kilometres away, and riverside and hillside Beynac-et-Cazenac within six kilometres. We strongly suggest visiting them all and you'll see why when you get there...

Other top tourist attractions in the area are all easy to get to from Camping le Céou, like the Paleolithic cave paintings of the Lascaux caves complex and of the Padirac Chasm; the spectacular cliffside town Rocamadour and the town of Castelnaud-la-Chapelle.

Or (and) go on a barge ride or visit the castle at Beynac, see the old town centre of Sarlat, or, further afield, get sporty with canoeing, tree climbing, paintball, climbing and hiking. An aquarium is in the town of Bugue.
