  • Family-run Dordogne woodland site five minutes' drive from Belvès
  • Sarlat-la-Canéda and several châteaux within a half-hour drive
  • Heated pool, mini farm, mini golf and summer activities on site
There’s a river (the Nauze) running right past the site at Camping La Lénotte… and a main road (the D710) passes close by as well. And that tells you a couple of good things about this Périgord Noir site – firstly that this is a rural setting with lovely views, and secondly that it’s also a convenient spot with easy access for days out. Tucked away among woodland about five minutes’ drive from Belvès, this family-run site makes a great base for a break in this region – you’ll be able to get to the Dordogne River with a five-minute drive or hit the hiking and cycling trails (including the GR36) without straying too far. A fabulous range of historic towns and villages, châteaux and family attractions are within easy reach too. So there’s plenty for you to do in the local area – and plenty to do on site, as well. There’s a lovely heated outdoor pool, a sports field, a mini golf course and a playground with trampoline, plus a mini farm where kids can meet the animals (goats, sheep, hens and rabbits) and join in with feeding sessions a couple of times a week. In the summer, there’s the added bonus of extra activities on site – including archery sessions, sports tournaments, craft sessions and silliness on the giant slip’n’slide. Evenings are filled with things like karaoke, live music and bingo… or you can just pick a book from the library. With a snack bar, a grocery store, wifi, a launderette and accessible bathrooms too, this site is kitted out with all the amenities you should need for a comfortable and convenient stay.

Local attractions

The Dordogne river is a highlight of this area, and it’s about a five-minute drive away for little beach areas, canoe/kayak hire or trips on traditional flat-bottomed boats. The GR36 long-distance trail passes nearby too, and there are shorter trails around if you’d like a gentler stroll. Etangs du Bos (15 minutes’ drive) has fishing areas and an aquapark with floating obstacle course. To dip into the area’s heritage, take a wander around pretty Belvès (five minutes) and medieval Sarlat-la-Canéda (half an hour) or visit châteaux like Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, Milandes and Beynac (all 20 minutes). You might also like to visit the Lascaux caves (45 minutes) to see the wonderful reproductions of ancient cave paintings. Getting the kids into history might take you to Parc aux Dinosaures Dordogne (40 minutes) or to Le Parc du Bournat (20 minutes), a 1900s-style village with craft demos and horse-drawn carriages. Aquarium Périgord Noir (20 minutes) is another good pick for a family day out.
