Bordered by a forest and a meadow, Camping Lestaubière is a slice of nature in the pretty Dodorgne department. That’s not all, though. With a beach volleyball court and a swimming pool for active afternoons and a pond at the centre of the site for peaceful days spent fishing, there’s something for all sorts at this pretty place… You might like to base yourself on one of the deckchairs on the lawn around the pool to read your book and relax. Otherwise, begin some ball games in the pool or potter around the paddling pool. Those of you who have a competitive streak may be drawn to the playground, artificial football pitch, table tennis or three illuminated pétanque courts too. When you’re all tired out, you might want to shelter under the trees on the snack bar terrace with a snack and a beer or soft drink. Of course, you may also be eyeing up the terraces of the cities to the north… The old town of Bergerac (25 minutes’ drive) has many characterful eateries, while half an hour's drive away in Périgueux you could pick up goodies from the food and truffle markets on selected days.

Liked Beautiful, spacious, relaxed family-run site.
Very welcoming, we could choose our own pitch - most had much needed shade.
Clean shower, toilet, washing up blocks.
Lovely, reasonably priced bar/snack area.
Large pool area with plenty of sun beds, open till late.
WiFi in reception area (not whole site) but mobile data signal worked fine on our pitch.

Liked Clean area, we'll equipped, and a lot of amenities! The pool was wonderful during the heat wave. Our host was so nice and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Liked Couldn’t fault this site! Huge pitches, plenty of shade, great pool, fab little terrace, bar and food offerings! We didn’t eat in but we did take away a pizza one night, the roast chicken and potatoes on Sunday-both delicious! The hosts were friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful! Facilities were spotless. Would loved to have stayed longer than 2 nights but we’ll save that till next time. We walked into the town where there is a quirky little bar (also sells food) and a very friendly shop that stocks most of the things you could need. Uphill walk on the way back but if we could manage carrying 6 litres of water in 38 degree heat, anyone can do it! We also can face to face with a young deer as we left the site - not sure who was most surprised 😳 🦌!Thank you ☺️

Liked Quiet environment and facilities. The lake, pool and bar area were excellent. Friendly owners and staff made us feel very welcome. We stayed one night so didn’t have chance to check out the local area. We will do that next time.

Disliked Food. We were pre warned by another camper before we ate in the bar that the food could be better. That person was right. Less frozen food and more authentic local fresh produce.

Liked Beautiful site, the lower pitches near the lake are flat roomy some with 10 amp electricity, excellent. The bar and pool area is everything you could ask for with friendly helpful owners providing drinks pizzas and meals in a peaceful environment.

Disliked We were there in June so not sure how peaceful it would be in peak season given the numbers of cabins and pitches

Liked The staff were lovely, very accommodating , very relaxed and made us feel very welcome. The camp site is spacious and well equipped with clean washrooms/showers and a fantastic pool. I could not fault it.

Liked Beautiful, spacious, tree-shaded pitches, lovely pool and the terrace/bar/restaurant were all brilliant. Immaculately clean toilets/showers. Kids loved the table tennis table too.

There’s plenty of ways to relax in the cities, whether it's sipping on wine at Château de Monbazillac (25 minutes' drive) and Cloitre des Recollets (25 minutes) or strolling between the tall trunks along Périgueux’s Parc Gamenson (35 minutes). Of course, there are more beauty spots out and about too, including the Cave Village Experience (an hour and 15 minutes) in Domme or the largest cave in the Dordogne, Gouffre de Proumeyssac (40 minutes). Thousands of fish lie in store at the Aquarium Périgord Noir (40 minutes). For prehistoric exhibitions, head to the National Museum of Prehistory (45 minutes) instead. Parc Le Bournat (40 minutes) is another historical spot to continue that sort of itinerary, as it's a reconstruction of a typical Périgord village from the 1900s.
