A 10-minute drive from the hilltop medieval village of Domme (renowned for its far-reaching views over the Dordogne valley), leafy Camping Le Moulin de Caudon has a wealth of leisure facilities that should make it a fine pick for people who would rather not rely on the car when they’re on holiday. Heated outdoor swimming pool for summer-day dips? Check. A playground for the kids – and a games room for rainy days? A fitness room to keep on top of your cardio? Check, check and check again. And if that’s not enough, the Dordogne river is a short walk from the site (about 100 metres): there, you can have a picnic (the site owners will be happy to supply you with a packed lunch), swim and hire a canoe. Home to trout and salmon, the river is also a popular fishing destination – just make sure you get your hands on a permit before casting your line. You can also hire a set of wheels on site and set about discovering the local area, from the Marqueyssac Gardens to the castle at Castelnaud-la-Chapelle (both within about 50 minutes by bike). Back at the site, you can freshen up (there’s a shower and toilet block) before grabbing a bite to eat from the snack bar, which serves simple meals like burgers and pizzas (plus salads for the more health conscious), or lighting the barbecue provided. The on-site shop sells a range of basic groceries, alongside regional specialities and locally produced beers and wines; for anything else, there are supermarkets in Domme.

Lovely views all around us. a gym and table tennis in the marquee, anda nice play area next to it.

Nice dogwalk where you can take the lead off

Bar area/snack bar and shop where you can order morning pastries

The dordogne river is literally a 5 minute walk from the site through a private gate

You can either walk or drive to the nearby village of domme which is lovely

Liked: Situation a short walk from the River through an Orchard. The Plots: most have a mix of tree shade but still Catch a bit of Sun if you want that. Facilities good clean and near to all plots which are arranged in a circle around a central block. Most of all after the last site; it's quite.

Disliked: Minor issue that did not really impact us but wifi is only available near the check in building.

Liked: Extremely polite and friendly welcome with directions for nearby walks. Very quiet and extremely clean and tidy site in a wonderful area. Lots of amenities for such a small site including a new swimming pool. Toilets and showers a bit dated but immaculate. Lovely walk down to the river straight from the site. Lots of shade for those who need it.

Disliked: It would be nice if they could grow a hedge or similar around the pool so you don't feel so exposed to the road. A few more pitches in the sun for those with solar panels but I guess in high season everyone is looking for shade. Drainage on some pitches could be improved but otherwise a really lovely site.

Liked: Friendly and welcoming hosts, scenic and central location, well equipped facilities

Disliked: Some pitches are a bit muddy. The farmer next door uses an alarm that goes off frequently to keep birds off his field, but that’s beyond the control of the hosts!

Liked: Warm welcome , nice flat shady pitch in the corner this was excellent for our two dogs .We ate in the restaurant the food was good.
The site has nice pool also there is a beach on the river . The site was busy but quiet in the evenings .

Disliked: Nothing

Liked: Not too big campsite. It is a nice location away from villages with access to the river. Warm swimming pool. Pretty quiet in evenings. Restaurant with pizza, other food and drinks. You can order bakery stuff for breakfast.

Disliked: I would have liked pitches with more privacy. In the middle of a dry summer, our pitch was very dusty and missing most of the grass. Despite that, I would still return if staying in the area.

Liked: Accueil agréable et efficace.
Emplacement plat et ombragé.
Accès privilégié à la Dordogne.
Le calme, la piscine, la plage de galets au bord de la rivière sont adaptés à des personnes voulant se reposer ou avec de jeunes enfants.
Un havre de paix par rapport à des routes et des lieux de visite sur fréquentés.

Disliked: Le Périgord Noir n'imagine malheureusement pas que les touristes puissent aspirer à se déplacer à pied ou en vélo dans une nature magnifique mais pratiquement inacessible. Cela n'enlève rien à la qualité et à l'intérêt de ce camping.

Local attractions

There are several historic villages in the vicinity, from Domme itself to La Roque-Gageac (10 minutes’ drive), which clings to a limestone cliff overlooking the river. Also worthy of a visit is Sarlat-la-Canéda (15 minutes), with its half-timbered buildings, medieval cathedral and the unusual Lanternes des Morts structure. Spread over three hectares, the Water Gardens of Carsac (15 minutes) has a series of boardwalks snaking through its lotus ponds, cascades and streams, so you can see the aquatic plants at close range. Meanwhile, the kids might enjoy spotting frogs, feeding koi carps or (on a hot summer day) playing with the water jets. Get to know all about prehistoric art at the Lascaux International Center of Parietal Art (35 minutes), which houses accurate replicas of the paintings found in the famed cave discovered in 1940, as well as interactive displays.

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
At least one of the party members must be aged 25 or over.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Please pick any available pitch on arrival.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Dogs

A valid vaccination certificate must accompany your dog.
Dogs are not allowed if you are staying in the accommodation units.
Dogs are prohibited from main facilities and amenities.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
Guide dogs are allowed on site free of charge.

Pitches

Reception is open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. between 30/04 and 13/09.
