  • Ideal porch for alfresco meals and drinks

Come and stay in our wooden chalets in a wood at the foot of the Castle of Biron. Each chalet has more than 540sq ft living space as well as a spacious 160sq ft porch. They are fully and comfortably equipped.

Downstairs there is an open style kitchen, a living room with comfortable settees, a separate toilet, a bathroom with shower and wash basin, and a bedroom for two people. The second bedroom, for two or four people, is on the mezzanine floor. The porch has a garden table and chairs, the perfect space for outdoor dining and for an aperitif.

  • Bois du Chateau-Biron Biron, Dordogne, France, 24540
  • Timezone Europe/Paris CEST (GMT+02:00)   GPS 44.6235°N 0.8779°E

From the North (Paris):

Arriving in Paris, follow the signposts for Bordeaux - A10. At Orleans, take the exit signposted A20 to Vierzon, Châteauroux, Limoges, Brive-la-Gaillarde. Continue and exit at Souillac.

Follow the signs for Sarlat-la-Canéda on the D703. At Carsac-Aillac continue straight ahead to La Roque Gageac (do not turn right in direction of Sarlat!). Go right through La Roque Gageac (still the D703) until Beynac-et-Cazenac.

Turn left towards St Cyprien and continue until Siorac-en-Périgord. At the roundabout turn left onto the D710 signposted Belvès.

After 4km and at Fongauffier turn right, then go uphill following the directions for Monpazier. Cross the village of Belvès and continue in the direction of Monpazier. When you reach Monpazier, turn left at the T-crossing and almost immediately, go right towards Biron et Villeréal.

After approximately 4km turn left towards Château Biron. Drive round the bottom of the castle and follow the signposts for Lacapelle-Biron - D53.

When descending the hill and after one kilometre, you will find our entrance on the left.

Local attractions

The marvels of our region:

- The Dordogne and Vézère valleys, with their prehistoric sites: Les Eyzies, La Roque St Christophe...
- Limestone caverns, geological chasms with rock and crystal formations, prehistoric shelters with sculptures and rock drawings: Lascaux II, Gouffre de Padirac, Grottes de Cougnac.
- The fortified castles which are the historical witnesses of the disputes between France and England: the castles of Bonaguil, Beynac and Castelnaud. But there are also castles like Les Milandes, once home of Josephine Baker and her children.
- The medieval towns and the bastides: very old, fortified towns, built according to a standard layout, eg Sarlat, Monpazier, Monflanquin, Villeréal,
- The old country churches, often of Roman architecture, the cloisters and priories: some of them witnessed the passage of the Pilgrims. Visit the abbeys of Cadouin and Roc-Amadour.
- The vineyards of Bergerac, of Buzet, of Thézac and of Cahors.
- Gastronomy, the abundance of good things in life: try our local foie gras, potted duck, wild mushrooms, local cheeses, fresh fruit and plenty of vegetables.
- Street markets with local farmers offering local products.
- The parks, gardens, and landscapes for painters and photographers.
- Sport activities: golf, horse riding, walking, cycling, canoeing, swimming, rock climbing, caving etc.
