Privacy as pitches were well apart and spacious

    Disliked:

Lack of outlook, just scrub bushes. Although there are spaces beside each pitch you have to park at the distant car park areas. Only bins are at the entrance.

In the Dordogne in the Périgord Blanc, the commune of Antonne-et-Trigonant is bordered on the east and south by the River Isle, and to the north by the national forest of Lanmary. The GR36 and GR646 footpaths both pass through Antonne, with one accessible straight from the site.

The historical monument Château des Bories can be visited in July and August.

Périgueux, a city of art and history, is just 8km from Antonne.

Visit the Périgord Museum of Art and Archaeology, the Gallo-Roman Vesunna Museum with its many relics, and the 24m-high Vésone Tower.

Enjoy a stroll through the narrow medieval streets with their half-timbered houses and visit Mataguerre tower.

Saint-Front Cathedral over the summit of the Puy is another symbol of Périgueux and is classed as a historical monument and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was an important landmark for pilgrims.

Make the most of the nature and parks in Périgueux by taking a stroll through Gamenson park, Jardin d'Arènes, Jardin des Remparts, or by the canal in Jardin des Vagabondes.

Enjoy walking, biking or rollerskating along the green paths of the Voie Verte, which runs along the River Isle, and stop for a break in one of the picnic areas, playgrounds or skate parks.

Canoeing and kayaking is available on the Voie Bleue of the River Isle by canoe from Trélissac (Charriéras) to Marsac (la Roche).

Golf fans will enjoy the Périgueux golf course in Marsac-sur-l’Isle.
