  • Peaceful site close near a golf course, 25 minutes’ drive from Tallinn
  • Viking Village 15 minutes’ drive; Kõrvemaa Landscape 40 minutes
  • Sauna, guided forest hikes and 4x4 excursions, all bookable in advance
Golfers and hikers are among the guests that might like to shortlist Vihula Talu for their next break. This peaceful Estonian site sits on the edge of the 18-hole Rae Golf course (less than a five-minute drive to the club’s car park, or a 15-minute walk) and under a mile from the lowland marshes of Limu Raba Hoiuala. This nature reserve is anchored by Patika Mädajärv lake, where you can take waterfront strolls on a well-kept boardwalk, picking blackberries and blueberries as you go. If you would like a little direction through the forest, it's also possible to book a guided hike (in advance). For more waterfront trails (maybe accompanied by your four-legged companion, who is welcome at the site – but only in low season), head to the Kaunissaare-Patika Canal. And after all that activity, you might want to treat yourself to a sauna session (which you'll need to reserve in advance). The capital Tallinn is about 25 minutes’ away by car, so when you’ve had enough of forests and bogs (and the golf club’s manicured grounds), you can head into the city for a completely different vibe. Speaking of different vibes: at the site you can also book a 4x4 adventure (in advance) for one or more days, taking part with your own vehicle or as a passenger in the organisers’ SUV. Campfires and barbecues are allowed, with supplies at the nearest supermarket in Vaida (five minutes), or you can head into Jüri (10 minutes) for more shops and a pizzeria.
