General
- Spacious flower-filled motorhome site 4km from central Haderslev
- A 20-minute drive to the coast; 40 minutes to German border
- Handy stopover for the E45; shops within 800 metres
Heading towards the Haderslev area for birdwatching and walks on the woods? Or maybe BMX trails and festivals? Either way – or to have a bit of both – the pitches at Park2Night make a fine spot in which to park your motorhome.
This spacious southern Jutland site is four kilometres from the centre of Haderslev, and it’s packed with trees and flowers rather than lots of people. There’s only a small number of pitches here, so there should be plenty of peace for your break.
Getting out to explore the area should be straightforward, as there are lots of walking and bike trails all around, and it’s about 10 minutes by bike to the town centre. Other outings nearby might take you to castles and museums, to climbing walls and a go-kart track or over to the coast for swims, boat trips and javelin fishing.
No need to worry about starving if you’re not handy with javelin fishing though – you can pick up supplies including fresh bread every day at the shop in the local square. There are plenty more shops and places to eat in Haderslev too, and if you want to spruce up ahead of a smart meal out it’s handy to know that the site has family bathrooms, hot showers and a launderette.
Park2Night makes a great place to spend a few days exploring the area – but it’s also a handy spot for those on a longer jaunt. It’s not far from the E45 and about 40 minutes’ drive from the German border so it’s a nifty location for a stopover. You may well meet people travelling onwards to Copenhagen and Sweden, and hear various tales of travel around the campfire of an evening…

Local attractions
Head down into Haderslev to soak up some of the local history in the cathedral or the museums (with archaeology, pottery and natural history) or look out for guards patrolling the city in original 13th-century outfits. You can also take vintage train rides from Haderslev, or visit the medieval Gram Castle (half an hour’s drive) to see if you can spot the ghosts.
For a bit more activity, there’s a climbing wall and go-karting nearby, along with a skate park. And for something more relaxing, you could take a stroll around UNESCO-listed Christiansfeld (10 minutes’ drive).
A trip to the coast could be on the cards too – Hejlsminde (15 minutes) and Årøsund (20 minutes) are both good places for a day out, with boat trips, snorkelling and spear fishing on offer as well as swims from the beach.
