Fancy a break at a farm right next to a forest? You’ll really be stepping into a simpler, more nature-focused lifestyle when you stay at Sojci Udoli, a tiny site with just a handful of pitches 15 minutes’ drive from Sušice.
This is a traditional farm in a peaceful spot with sheep wandering around – rural life as it’s been for centuries. You’ll be able to collect fresh drinking water from the farm’s well, take a paddle in the stream running through the site and spend your evenings tending a campfire at the dedicated stone firepit. It’s not all life as it was in the past though, as you’ll have access to a power socket and a compost toilet.
The pitch area is in a small clearing just next to the forest, with direct access from the driveway for easy setting up. The forest backdrop provides plenty of shelter, plus wildlife to spot either from your pitch or when you take a wander in the woods.
The atmosphere here is certainly one of rural peace, but despite the remote feeling you’ll be in a great location for exploring the area, whether you’d like to go hiking in the Šumava National Park, canoe along the Otava river or wander along the former royal town of Sušice.

Local attractions
The Plzeň region is a popular one with outdoor enthusiasts, with lots of great hiking trails through the mountainous landscapes of the Šumava National Park (20 minutes’ drive) and the chance to canoe or paddleboard along the Otrava river (15 minutes). For other ways to take in the scenery, climb the observation tower at Rozhledna Svatobor u Sušice (15 minutes) or try the rafting, off-road scooters and treetop trails at Offpark Sušice (15 minutes).
You’ll want to have a stroll around Sušice (15 minutes) as well – the historic royal town is a lovely place to wander around, following the path along the river and among the old buildings. While you’re there, visit the Sušice Museum of Šumava to learn about the area’s match-making industry and see some gorgeous glasswork.
For other historic buildings, visit Rabí Castle (20 minutes), an imposing hilltop site destroyed by fire in the 18th century, and take a guided tour of Kašperk Castle (15 minutes), a medieval building with stunning views.
