  • Scenic beach site with views across to Brijuni National Park’s islands
  • A 15-minute drive from Pula and its ancient Roman architecture
  • Swimming pools, restaurant, family entertainment, playground and shop
Plop yourself down on the pretty pebble beach just outside Istria Tourist at Bi Village and you might very well decide to fill your whole trip taking in the far-reaching views across to the Brijuni National Park’s islands in the Adriatic Sea. But with so much to do in and around this site a 10-minute drive from Pula, that’s definitely not recommended. Break up basking on the beach with submerges in the swimming pools at the park – some of which have waterslides for the tiddlers – or take a walk on the trails in the stunning surrounds. You could also get the whole family huffing and puffing during cycle rides, as bikes are for hire at the park, or work on raising your heart rate at the indoor gym; there really is something for everyone at this holiday village, with ample entertainment for the nippers in the form of kids’ clubs and a playground, plus watersports organised down on the coast. Amusement for adults includes aqua aerobics and archery, and there’s a restaurant by the beach for satisfying meals. A shop is on the grounds for sorting supplies, plus more stores, eateries and pubs are in Fažana, under five minutes’ drive away and your launch point for boats to the Brijuni National Park’s islands. Days are likely to be packed during stays at this park and the activities don’t let up in the evenings either: family-friendly shows are often organised here, and Istria Tourist at Bi Village is a 15-minute drive from Pula’s bars and clubs.

Local attractions

Stare at the Brijuni National Park’s islands out to sea from the beach by the park, then travel to Fažana (five minutes’ drive) for a boat trip out to these spectacular spots in the middle of the Adriatic. Back on the mainland, make Pula your next point of interest – particularly for the Roman arena (15 minutes), which is said to be one of the most well-preserved in the world. Other attractions from the era are all around, including a forum that serves as the city’s central square. The highly decorated Arch of the Sergii, dating back to 30 BC, is an older monument to cast your eye over while here; don’t miss the Temple of Augustus either, which displays ancient stonework and bronze sculptures unearthed from around Pula. If these urban wanders have you craving the countryside, set off on an expedition to Park Prirode Učka (an hour and 10 minutes) for hikes in gorgeous greenery.
