  • Affordable British Columbia park with spectacular mountain views
  • Half an hour’s drive to Revelstoke; 40 minutes to Shuswap Lake
  • Communal eating and picnic areas, gift shop, TV room and playground
Craving a wild swim in a British Columbia lake? Or skiing at one of BC’s top resorts? If you’ve answered ‘yes’ to those questions, pack your bags and head for Noah’s Ark Resort, where you can take a dip in Shuswap Lake in summer or ski at Revelstoke during the winter months. Whatever time of year you rock up at Noah’s Ark, its setting is entrancing. Located halfway between Revelstoke and Sicamous and just off the Trans-Canada Highway, the campground has a spectacular forested backdrop taking in Griffin Mountain and Mount Begbie. Life on this well-kept, peaceful and family-oriented park centres on The Lodge, housing a TV room, communal covered eating area and Mrs. Noah’s Berries and Cream, where you can pick up homemade frozen yoghurt in peak season. Regional souvenirs, refreshments and snacks are available from the gift shop. Outside is a picnic area with a washing-up sink, and playground with climbing frames and a wooden galleon for any would-be pirates to commandeer. Practical amenities include showers, coin-operated washing machines and wifi hotspots (find them all in The Lodge).

Local attractions

Not content with pushing out turns on ski runs at Revelstoke Mountain Resort (half an hour’s drive)? Try your hand at mountain biking or rock climbing, paragliding, hiking, snowmobiling… the list is endless. For more high-octane activities, take to the waters for water-skiing and wakeboarding adventures at Mara Lake (35 minutes). If you’re happy with less hair-raising pursuits, head for one of several championship golf courses within half an hour’s drive, or fish for trout and salmon at Shuswap Lake (40 minutes). Spend downtime on the beach at Three Valley Lake (five minutes), and hike up to the viewing platform at Crazy Creek Falls (10 minutes) to peer out over the canyon and waterfalls. Family in tow? Make a stop at The Enchanted Forest to see fairy tales come to life or meet Winnie-the-Pooh and Captain Hook. Up the action levels again at neighbouring SkyTrek Adventure Park (both five minutes, open summer only) to test your nerve on zipwires, treetop rope courses and the climbing tower. Round off a busy day with a look at the vintage car collection and abandoned houses at Three Valley Gap ghost town (10 minutes).

Fazit: absolut keine Weiterempfehlung
