Being based at the foot of the Petzen cable star station means that switching up your cosy chalet for mountain slopes couldn’t be simpler. The dog-friendly Chaletpark Petzen is all about feelgood breaks in Carinthia… depending on the time of year, you could fill your day with skiing, snowboarding, hiking, paragliding, snowshoeing, climbing and all sorts on Petzen’s slopes. As for the time that’s spent inside your chalet, well, that’s bound to be thoroughly relaxing too. The high-quality and modern 45-square-metre chalets at Chaletpark Petzen are equipped with a bathroom, kitchenette, living and dining area, two separate bedrooms with all bedding and towels provided, a terrace and a lockable storage room for bikes or skis. Admission to the Pirkdorfer See is included in the stay, so add swimming pool dips to your Carinthia itinerary. It has a gorgeous lakeside restaurant which dishes out regional delicacies – that’s dinnertime sorted. It’s only five minutes’ drive away, and with a parking spot directly outside your chalet, it’s easy to get there as soon as you start craving the water (or something savoury or sweet). Then, what about the mouth-watering Carinthia food? Whether it’s Kärntner nudeln (pasta pockets), seafood or gubana cake, track it down in towns like Mežica, 15 minutes’ drive away. There’s also a supermarket in St. Michael ob Bleiburg, 10 minutes’ drive away, and a bread service on site.

Liked: Ein total tolles, kleines, modernes, sauberes und schick eingerichtetes Tiny House. Es ist alles drin und es fehlt einem an nichts. Die Küche hatte genug Geschirr, Töpfe und Pfannen und sogar scharfe Messer, was woanders auch nicht immer der Fall ist. Für uns als Familie mit 3 Kindern perfekt, auch als Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge. Außerdem der See in der Nähe, der zum Campingplatz gehört ist wunderbar mit Kindern. Es gab auch einen extra Abstellraum von außen zugänglich, also auch genug Platz für alles.

Disliked: Leider kein WLAN.

Liked: Lage super, nur ein paar Minuten von der Gondelstation entfernt

Disliked: Terrasse nicht überdacht, rauchen im Regen war sehr spannnend!
Für sechs Personen eindeutig zu klein! Kein Platz für Gewand (schon gar nicht für 6!!)
Kein Backofen, keine Mikrowelle!
Als das Wasser komplett ausfiel, war unter keiner der angegebenen "Service-Nummern" jemand erreichbar! 15 Stunden zu sechst auf kleinstem Raum ohne Wasser (natürlich auch ohne WC), war eine Zumutung!!!!
Keine Möglichkeit schnell mal aufzuwaschen! Der Boden war bald schmutzig, es gab aber nur einen Eimer und keinen Wischmop!
Zu zweit (und wenn man im Vorhinein weiß, was alles im Haus fehlt) eventuell okay...

Local attractions

Make your way to gorgeous Mežica (15 minutes’ drive), where it’s possible to take the adventure underground. Romans once mined under the valley town, so there’s now a museum and a mine available for visits. When you make it back above ground, pick a mountain trail into the surrounding hills – perhaps to Mala Pica and its cave or the Church of St. Lenart? This is all a part of Geopark Karawanken (15 minutes). The UNESCO World Heritage Site stretches across both Slovenia and Austria, and some of its other stunning spots include the stalactites of the Obir caves (half an hour) and the zipwire in Črna na Koroškem (25 minutes). If you can’t quite be bothered taking the car out one day but you fancy something a little energetic, the MTB ZONE Bikepark Petzen (five minutes’ walk) will soon have you tearing up trails.
