Liked We loved the location, restaurant, rafting, canyoning and cycling which we did straight from the campsite. The canyoning especially was brilliant; Mario, our instructor was so nice and it was a real challenge; an excellent activity to do with our 3 teenagers. A hike through the Groppensteinschlucht Gorge is amazing. The river was great to have a quick reviving dip in but it’s very cold!

Disliked Some of the staff weren’t particularly friendly and you have to pay for everything in cash.

Liked Freundlicher Service, schöne Lage und das angeschlossene Restaurant sehr schön.

Disliked Die Durchfahrtsstraße der Förster war nervig. Zum Teil wurde hier viel zu schnell gefahren. Die Sanitäranlagen sind etwas in die Jahre gekommen und fand ich persönlich etwas gering, wenn der Platz ausgelastet gewesen wäre.

Liked Wir konnten uns einen Stellplatz aussuchen. Die Umgebung ist super schön, Sanitäranlagen immer sauber und das Essen im Restaurant war sehr lecker. Wir waren nur eine Nacht hier und auf der Durchreise nach Kroatien.

If you've come along for adventure, you're in the right place. Rafting and canyoning excursions can be organised on site and there are heaps of hikes in the surrounding area from gentle wanders to proper challenges (tackling the national park’s seven summits, anyone?) A couple of great options nearby are the gorges Groppensteinschlucht (half an hour's walk) and Raggaschlucht (10 minutes' drive). Getting higher up, the ski resort of Mölltaler Gletscher (20 minutes) is a nice place for a hike in summer, with a popular glass-walled restaurant where you can soak up the views over a meal. Alternatively, see some of the landscapes from above while riding the cable car to Ankogel (25 minutes). For more scenery spotting, visit Falkenstein Castle (10 minutes) and Mauterndorf Castle (an hour) or meander past the Millstätter See (35 minutes), the second-largest lake in Carinthia.
