- Quiet site on a small working farm
- Surrounded by the mountains, valleys and woodlands of Snowdonia
- Well-maintained facilities
Maes Carafanau Cefn Crib Caravan Park is a small, friendly and scenic site set on a family farm five miles from Aberdyfi/Aberdovey and its beach, cafés and restaurants.
The farm has plenty of trees for climbing, acres of fields and paths to wander, streams to paddle in and woodlands to explore, and is a handy base for exploring Snowdonia National Park. Outdoor pursuits such as windsurfing, sailing, climbing, walking and mountain biking are all close by.
The farm has a toilet and shower block with free hot water, nicely spacious shower rooms and a washing-up area.

The nearest railway station is Machynlleth with direct links to Birmingham. There is a bus service that takes you right to the entrance to our farm.
If you are travelling by car the satnav will direct you to the entrance of the caravan park.
From Dyfi Bridge, follow the A493 towards Aberdyfi. Pass through the village of Pennal, and after 1.5 miles, you will see the caravan park entrance on your left.
Get active or stay serene: the area around Maes Carafanau Cefn Crib Caravan Park has the activities of Snowdonia National Park, the beaches and watersports of Aberdovey and Borth, old villages, castles, and wildlife spotting all around – or just hire a bike near the farm and see where the pedals take you.
Wherever you go, remember to look up fairly frequently: this area is prime birdwatching territory and the Ynys-hir RSPB nature reserve, location for the BBC’s Springwatch, is nearby.
Some of the most famous local feathered residents are the Dyfi ospreys, also featured by the Beeb in Springwatch and Autumnwatch. Monty, Tina and co fly south in autumn, but can be viewed on live video when they’re around at the Dyfi Osprey Project just down the road from Ynys-hir, or above the mudflats of the Dyfi estuary, part of the Dyfi National Nature Reserve.
If you’re feeling up for a challenge, tackle the three trails of mountain Cadair Idris at the southern end of the national park, or go down instead of up at the many custom-designed tracks of the cracking Coed y Brenin mountain bike centre (there are bikes for hire if you don’t have your own).
Beachcomber? Aberdovey, where the mountains meet the sea, is the spot for sailing, kite surfing, all sorts of watersports and miles of sandy beach. To the south, the beach at Borth is the longest in neighbouring county Ceredigion and has three miles of sand edging shallow water safe enough for your shrimps to splash about in.
Even the most determinedly beach-going sprog will delve into the history of Wales if they know it involves King Arthur and his knightly team... The tale of all is told at King Arthur's Labyrinth a few miles away at Machynlleth in a regally grand family attraction which also includes the Corris Craft Centre, Bards Quest and exploring the Corris slate mine. More Welsh history can be had at the Owain Glyndwr Centre, also in Machynlleth and at the castles of Powys and Gwynedd such as Harlech.
Steam railways puff around these parts too: the Talyllyn Railway from Tywyn to Abergynolwyn and Nant Gwernol via the Dolgoch Falls, and the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway from Llanfair Caereinion to Welshpool. More modernly, the Centre for Alternative Technology near Corris takes a look at alternative technology and all aspects of sustainable living.
