General

  • Small, family-run and friendly working farm close to Llandrindod Wells
  • Spectacular scenery for miles around
  • Next door to a golf course with clubhouse bar and restaurant

There's a lot going for small, friendly and family-run Llandrindod Hall Caravan and Camp Site at Llandrindod Wells in Powys.

First up, it's set in spectacular surroundings with just as spectacular views – and all within walking distance of the Victorian spa town of Llandrindod Wells. Next, anyone up for angling? Coarse fishing is available on the town lake and fly fishing nearby on the River Ithon. Or how about teeing off – or a clubhouse tipple or vittle? An 18-hole golf course with clubhouse bar and restaurant is right next door.

And then there's the walking – and pedalling... several footpaths to explore start direct from the site, bike tracks are within easy reach, and 15 minutes' drive will take you to the strolls and wildlife watching of the handsome Elan Valley. Books? Hay on Wye is just 20 miles away.

Llandrindod Hall is a working farm, with excellently-kept amenities including modern toilets and showers, an indoor washing-up area, phone charger points and a fridge/freezer for guests' use. Both barbecues and campfires are allowed and – what a handy little touch – a butcher in Llandrindod Wells gives 10% off to Llandrindod Hall guests.

Great find for proximity to Llandrindod Wells 06/11/2017

Flat pitches; remote location, yet close to town; views from elevated site location; friendly owners; excellent facilities, note limited but led to believe extra toilet units are brought in for the main season.

    Disliked:

Recent visit by sheep on the grass, which, walking across in the dark caused minor annoyance from droppings.
No hard pitches, which resulted in constantly introducing wet, muddy, grass mowings into the campervan.

From the manager...

Thank you for your review.
We have more toilet facilities but we have some scaffolding up blocking access to the other facilities at the moment as it is a quiet time for us, and we also bring extra toilets in during busy periods.
We are sorry about the sheep droppings but a walker left the gate open and the sheep escaped to the camp site. we did move you to another area.
If it is very wet we can park campers or caravans on the yard and can still hook up to the electric.
We look forward to seeing you in the future.

On arrival we were showed to the camping area by Pam and told we could choose which pitch we wanted. The views are fantastic, the pitches are all a nice size and flat, and toilet facilities although there are only 2 were very clean and more than ample for our needs. We read in one of the reviews that they were dirty but can only assume this was a one off as we found everything spotless and always well stocked. Once we worked out that you had to pull the chord at the end of the bath to get the shower to work we were more than happy with the large private bathroom which also supplied toilet rolls, hand soap and a paper towel dispenser.

The site was very quiet as we were the only ones camping although there were 2 or three caravans/camper vans on another part of the site. The hens wandering around sometimes paid us a visit to see what we were up to but not very often. You can also buy their fresh eggs from the office which are very nice and really fresh.

The town is nearby and you can walk down to the lake which has dragon fountain in the middle and a small restaurant and ice cream cafe by the side of it.

We had a lovely 4 night break and even though there was some quite heavy rain it didn't spoil our stay. The free wi-fi was excellent (may have been because we were the only ones using it at the time though!) and we had no problems using netflix at all.

All in all an excellent place to stay with some really stunning views and all run by Pam and Bruce who are really helpful and very very friendly.

Thank you for a lovely stay and we look forward to another stay in the future.

Within 10 minutes' drive of Llandrindod Hall Caravan and Camp Site is the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show Ground, home of the famed Royal Welsh Show, at Llanelwedd, and the Red Kite Feeding Station at Rhayader, where the birds swoop down for eats every day.

You can/should also get along to the walks and wildlife of the Elan Valley and/or the Gothic mansion, 52 ornately decorated rooms and fab gardens of Abbey-Cwm-Hir Hall, both 15 minutes away by car, and take a leisurely and literary amble around book town Hay on Wye, within 20 miles.

If you'd rather stay very close to home on a family hol, an indoor play centre is only five minutes away.
