  • Simple back-to-nature site in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park
  • Boat trips around Ramsey, Skomer and Grassholm a short walk away
  • Spacious grassy pitches, spectacular views and close to the coast
If all you require from a retreat on the Pembrokeshire coast is wide open skies, plenty of grassy space and spectacular views towards St Davids and lush Welsh countryside, it’s a safe bet that Rhosson Campsite will very much float your boat. This family-run site in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is a 10-minute walk from the St Davids Lifeboat Station at St Justinian – also the departure point for boat trips around the islands of Ramsey, Skomer and Grassholm – and is half an hour’s walk from the teeny city. Set across two spacious grassy fields, this is a back-to-basics site that aims to keep things nice and simple. When you arrive, pick yourself a preferable pitch in one of two large fields overlooking the spectacular Pembrokeshire countryside; most are on a gentle downhill slope, with some flatter pitches available near the bottom of the field. As befits a simplistic site such as this, there’s oodles of space for kids to bound about and play ball games in, and campfires are also actively encouraged, so be sure to bring plenty of eats, a well-tuned guitar and your very best scary stories… Amenities include cold running water suitable for drinking and washing, as well as outdoor cold showers, and separate ladies’ and gents’ toilets. This site is generally left to run itself so isn’t always staffed – but you'll be provided with contact details should ever you need to get hold of someone.

This is a peaceful, spacious campsite offering excellent value in a stunning location, perfect for exploring the coast. Guests appreciate the freedom to pitch anywhere and the helpful barn area with charging points and freezer. While facilities are basic and showers are cold, they are generally clean and functional. Some visitors noted occasional noise from other campers and occasional issues with toilet facilities needing upkeep.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked beautiful panoramic views of the coast. Delightful walk along to the coast to St Justinians. Peaceful, tranquil setting of the camp site. Freezer and fridge was much welcomed for icepacks and food, and the use of electricity in the barn for charging phones. Very good value for money, and will definitely be back. Also great to see wildlife - several herons and Red Kites flying overhead.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked The view is sensational. Although the facilities are basic, they are adequate. Always lots of toilet roll in toilets; cold showers; washing up sink. I particularly welcomed the barn with a fridge and a freezer; plus a power socket to charge your phone. Everything you need. Very good value I thought for £8 per night.

Local attractions

As the site's right in the middle of the Pembrokeshire National Coast Park, there’s a whole heap to do around here. Start off at the RNLI St Davids Lifeboat Station at St Justinian to take a boat tour around Ramsey, Skomer and Grassholm and to look out for seals, porpoises, dolphins and whales. A short two-mile drive (or half an hour’s walk) away is the handsome city of St Davids, with a 12th-century cathedral, the ruins of the medieval Bishops Palace and a good collection of independent shops and excellent eateries to peruse. Spectacular beaches fringe this area’s coastline too: a short walk away is the enclosed sandy cove of Porthsele, a splendid and peaceful spot for open beach fires and sunset gazing. Award-winning Whitesands, famed for its soft golden sands, clear waters and watersports, is the most popular beach on the peninsula and an easy three-mile drive from Rhosson, or if you’re confident when it comes to navigating tide times, you can walk to it at low tide from Porthsele. For outdoorsy and adventurous activities, a company based in St Davids organises activities such as coasteering, kayaking, surfing, and climbing for individuals and groups.
