Welcome

  • Small, peaceful family-run site just outside Marloes village
  • Among spectacular scenery a hike or short drive from the beach
  • Two and a half miles from boat trips to Skomer Island
Head way out west, almost to the far end of a Pembrokeshire peninsula and have a peaceful break at Foxdale Campsite, on the edge of the village of Marloes. This small site, 25 minutes’ drive west of Haverfordwest, is surrounded by splendid scenery, and the pitches are fully sheltered from the breezes that occasionally buffet the nearby coast. There are some fab hikes around here (particularly for those who choose to treat their boots to a jaunt on the always-scenic Pembrokeshire Coast Path), and some equally excellent options for other ways to see this cracking stretch of coastline: might you be tempted by wildlife-watching boat trips, windsurfing days, surf lessons or galloping through the shallows on horseback perhaps? Such levels of activity aren’t compulsory, of course (cue sigh of relief from folks seeking flop time). The marvellous Marloes Sands is a mere mile and a half away for easy beach days – the place is so pretty it’s even earned itself a role in a Hollywood film (part of Snow White and the Huntsman was filmed here in 2011). To feed your outings (whatever they may be), settle in for meals at the pub a short stroll away. Essential amenities are all sorted on site: basic showers and toilets, laundry facilities, a fridge-freezer and a washing-up area. There's also a small on-site shop for the basics, including milk, bread, dried and tinned goods and some camping and leisure items. The village has a pizza takeaway, a short walk away, and the nearest other shop is at a café in Dale, 10 minutes' drive away.

What customers say

This is a highly recommended, small, quiet campsite with friendly, helpful staff. Guests praise the clean and well-maintained facilities, particularly the new showers. Its excellent location is ideal for visiting Skomer Island and exploring the beautiful coastline and beaches. The on-site food van and small shop are popular additions. While some minor issues with older facilities were noted, improvements are ongoing.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Lovely site, fairly small but that’s how we like it. It’s under new ownership and Paddy was very helpful and friendly. We had a spacious grass pitch, fairly flat. Great showers and washing machine available on request. Marloes is a beautiful place, we wish we’d had longer there. We cycled to Dale which was hilly but great fun. Lovely little beach side cafe for breakfast.

Liked Really professional, engaging and kind host.
The campsite location is perfect; Marloes Sand and Lockley Lodge, Marloe’s Haven are less than 10 minutes distance by car. Perfect location if you booked any trip to Skomer Island.
Easy access to the coastal walk, we made a circular walk around the area-there is a coffee shop on the way called Runwayskiln, their english breakfast is one of the best I have had before, and they menus are quite versatile as well.
The campsite is approx 5-6 minutes away from a local pub (opens 7days a week), and from a playground whoever needed, we played there football as there is a football pitch there.

Kitchen, toilet, shower are all well equipped (the showers and toilets were immaculately clean and regularly checked) there is an option for washing machine and shared fridge as well.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Location was great for visiting Skomer island. Welcome was lovely, very friendly. Toilets and showers were clean and worked well. It’s basically a reasonably level field with pitches around the edge, the hedges between pitches is a nice touch. Easy access to water, hook up easily reached, elsan point and grey waste drainage as you leave. I imagine the area in the middle of the field could become a great place for kids to play. Looks like there’s some good trail walks in the area. As far as I know there isn’t wifi but Vodafone signal was a bit better this year.

Disliked Unfortunately the little site shop was no longer there and we haven’t found anywhere in walking distance to stock up on essentials and treats. Make sure you’ve got everything you need before you arrive.

Liked The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful. Shower and toilet facilities were fantastic and the pitch was lovely and neat. Really close to all the spots we wanted to venture to, 10 mins in the car to Marloes Sands, The Deer Park etc.

Liked We really liked this site!
A nice size site, not too big so that it feels more personal.
The pitches were a good size, plenty of space.
Great welcome from Gywn, and Julie helped us out with the bus.
Possibly the best showers I've used on a campsite, hot and powerful with hooks a plenty to hang your bits and bobs.
Shuttle bus 5 minute walk.
Local pub 5 minute walk, and a local pizza place at weekends.
We stayed here for the Skomer trip, 5 minute drive to the parking or around an hours walk.

Local attractions

The local beach – an energetic walk or a very short drive away – is clean, uncrowded Marloes Sands, a huge expanse of beach at low tide, with rockpools and unusual cliff formations for added drama. Turn your sights in the opposite direction to hit the north Pembrokeshire coast with a 10-minute drive for the views over St Bride’s Bay. Hop on a boat at nearby Martin’s Haven for the 15-minute crossing to Skokholm and Skomer islands, bliss for birdwatchers: as well as cormorants, razorbills and many other sea birds, between April and August the islands play home to a sizeable puffin colony. Skomer is also a good place to see grey seals, although you can often spot them from dry land as well, during the short walk around the cliff tops at Martin’s Haven Deer Park (no deer, but spectacular wildflowers and sea views). For active types, there are many more fab walks along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, as well as golf, sailing, windsurfing, sea fishing and pony trekking nearby. Also within a 45-minute drive are the teeny city of St Davids, family-friendly days at Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo… and Pembrokeshire beaches galore of course…
