  • Peaceful Pembrokeshire site in a sheltered wooded valley
  • A 10-minute drive from the surf beach at Newgale and 20 from St Davids
  • Scenic walks through the surrounding meadows and along the stream
Coast and countryside are equally fab in pretty Pembrokeshire, so it makes sense to pitch up somewhere with easy access to a bit of both. Bag a berth at Brandy Brook Caravan and Camping Site for a splendid spot to start outings of either variety. Surfers and sea-view ramblers will want to note that the nearest beach is Newgale, 10 minutes away by car and well known for its wave-riding potential (and its surf schools, if you’ve not quite fulfilled your wave-riding potential…). It’s also here that you can pick up the Pembrokeshire Coast Path if you'd prefer to keep your feet firmly on dry land. Being a little way from the sea means that this site keeps its calm even when chill winds blow in from the west: it’s in a sheltered spot at the bottom of a wooded valley, with the sort of secluded vibe that comes from being surrounded by peaceful meadows. A trout stream runs a little way away, and if you tread very carefully, you may just spot otters as you wander along the banks… That shelter comes in most handy if you’re planning an outdoor feast (picnic benches are provided, and supplies can be sourced in St Davids or Haverfordwest, both 20 minutes’ drive away). As befits such a serene spot, facilities have been kept on the simple side, but the toilet block has been kitted out with showers and handy additions including razor points and a hairdryer for when you want to spruce up. These surrounds are mighty tempting for four-legged guests too, so dogs are welcome to join you on your break (but on leads at all times, please, in order to leave the wildlife in peace).

What customers say

This is a highly recommended, peaceful campsite set in gorgeous countryside, praised for its friendly and welcoming owner, Alys. Visitors highlight the clean facilities, spacious pitches, and tranquil atmosphere, often mentioning birdsong and a nearby brook. The site is ideal for exploring Pembrokeshire and offers a relaxing escape from busier coastal areas. Some guests noted midges and the distance to showers as minor points. The traditional sweet shop is a popular bonus.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Came here for the end of May bank holiday and what a gorgeous setting. Lovely spacious pitches across the site surrounded by woodland, meadows, fields and a brook running through it. Not busy, mostly the sounds of birdsong and the babbling brook, with various walks to be had direct from the campsite. Even the drive here down roads busling with wildflowers is gorgeous. Toilets are immaculate, strong hot showers. And the owner Alice who couldn't be more sound and laid back. The fresh freeze blocks every day are so handy. A real find if you're down this way and want an alternative to the crammed campsites closer to the beach.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked I loved the space and the quiet, except for some farming noises around. The birdsong in the morning was fantastic. We were very lucky to have the whole tent area to ourselves most of the time.

Disliked The showers were quite a long walk away and I could imagine that the facilities might be a bit crowded if the campsite is full.

Local attractions

The seaside around here isn’t all surfing and strolling – you can also saddle up to canter through the waves in Nolton (15 minutes’ drive) or up the adrenaline levels with days of sea kayaking or coasteering from St Davids (20 minutes). Boat trips to Skomer and Ramsey islands leave from here, too, in search of seals, dolphins, puffins and other sea-dwelling wildlife. St Davids is a splendid place to visit if you’d like to stick to dry land too – the cathedral and Bishop’s Palace are must-sees, and there are plenty of places to pick up picnic bits if you fancy a stroll out to sea-view St Non’s Chapel (20 minutes) or along the coast to the pretty village of Solva (an hour or so). If the nippers demand a little more excitement in their lives, it’s around 40 minutes' drive to popular Pembrokeshire attractions including Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo and the Blue Lagoon waterpark.
