General

  • Peaceful adults-only rural site 15 minutes' drive from Cardigan
  • A 20-minute walk from Tresaith beach and coastal footpaths
  • Dog-friendly site with secure bike storage for cyclists

If you ever needed an excuse for a lengthy seaside stay, it’s perhaps worth reading up on recent research that confirms what you knew all along – being by water is good for both physical and mental health.

Armed with such scientific facts, it’s highly recommended that you plan an escape to Esgaireithin Caravan Site forthwith (citing health reasons if you feel the need to justify a break). From this small adults-only site between Aberporth and Penbryn it’s a leisurely 20-minute trot to Tresaith beach, where you can paddle, hire kayaks, feast on ice creams (or hot choc if it's not frozen snack weather) or pick up the Ceredigion Coast Path for a lengthier ramble.

There’s a fab friendly (and dog-friendly) pub in the village too, for meals and post-walk pints out on the sea-view terrace. For barbecues back at base, pick up all the necessaries at the supermarket a mile away (it's got an in-house bakery, butchery, fresh veg and off licence, so best take a few bags to fill).

Binoculars are a fine investment for a trip to these parts: you’ll spot regular wild visitors at this peaceful site and dolphins and seals put in frequent appearances in the bay. Bring bikes too if you like, as each caravan has a cycle rack for your wheels.

Dogs (as you may have noticed) are pretty keen on the seaside too, so Esgaireithin has been set up to welcome four-legged pals too: they’ve even got their own exercise field for running about and meeting fellow holidaying hounds.

Please note

This site has no on-site toilet and shower facilities.

This is an adults-only site. Children under the age of 18 are not allowed on site.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Dogs must not be left alone in the caravans. Any damage caused may be chargeable.

Great location for a wonderful break in the countryside 30/10/2018

The location - well tended site with good parking facilities and lovely dedicated outdoor spaces for each van. Great countryside views from the caravan and wonderfully peaceful, with lovely dark skies and no light pollution at night. Ideally situated to take in the delights of the West Wales coast and the many interesting walks on offer. It was lovely to watch the birds flitting around in the hedgerows and in front of the caravan. We even followed a badger up the lane on our walk back from the pub in Tresaith on one evening.

The caravan - whilst not the most up to date or modern, it was very clean, comfortable, tidy, well looked after and offered everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and very enjoyable (the bed was very comfy!). A great space to unwind after a day out exploring the locality. Lovely amount of outdoor space too, complete with furniture. Given that the weather was very wet, windy and cold, the van was a really cosy place to hunker down in front of the gas fire in the evening, glass in hand and watching TV.

The owners - very friendly, helpful and very approachable. Thank you!

A great site and highly recommended to anyone who appreciates being in the great outdoors. We very much hope to return.

Our caravan was clean & tidy with a very comfy bed. It was one of 4 vans that enjoy an incredible view across a valley. The site was very quiet and dog friendly. All vans have a large fenced off garden with a table & chairs. There is a large dog walking area.

The owners were very friendly & could not do enough to make our stay comfortable.

Tresaith is a short enjoyable walk away where you will find a lovely beach and a pub called The Ship. I would advise you book for food as they can get very busy.

You can access the north & south coastal paths. The south one is the easiest walk.

The surrounding area is well worth exploring with some lovely villages & hidden coves.

If you want peace & quiet for you & your dog(s), with access to some of the best scenery Wales has to offer, you will not regret staying here.

Local attractions

At 60 miles long, the Ceredigion Coast Path might be a little daunting for most visitors, but even short chunks cram in heaps of gorgeous views and spectacular beaches, so plan to cover as much or as little as you like. Highlights nearby include the waterfall at Tresaith beach and the lovely beaches at Penbryn and Aberporth (both about 45 minutes’ walk or five minutes’ drive).

Want to get even closer to the sea? Tresaith's beach is popular with surfers, and there are also great waves at Poppit Sands (20 minutes) and Llangrannog (15 minutes). Cardigan (15 minutes) is a hive of activities for intrepid sorts – coasteering, paddleboarding and sea kayaking are all on the menu here.

Looking for something a little less hair-raising? Folk fascinated by engineering will want to examine the engine collection at the Internal Fire Museum of Power (five minutes’ drive), while arty types may prefer a wander in the gardens at Sculptureheaven (10 minutes). Castle wanders are never too far away in Wales either – 13th-century Cilgerran Castle (20 minutes) is your nearest place to roam among ruins.
