Esgaireithin Caravan Site: Entrance to the site

General

  • Peaceful adults-only rural site 15 minutes' drive from Cardigan
  • A 20-minute walk from Tresaith beach and coastal footpaths
  • Dog-friendly site with bike racks for cycle storage

If you ever needed an excuse for a lengthy seaside stay, it’s perhaps worth reading up on recent research that confirms what you knew all along – being by water is good for both physical and mental health...

Armed with such scientific facts, it’s highly recommended that you plan an escape to Esgaireithin Caravan Site forthwith (citing health reasons if you feel the need to justify a break). From this small adults-only site between Aberporth and Penbryn it’s a leisurely 20-minute trot to Tresaith beach, where you can paddle, hire kayaks, feast on ice creams (or hot choc if it's not frozen snack weather) or pick up the Ceredigion Coast Path for a lengthier ramble.

There’s a fab friendly (and dog-friendly) pub in the village too, for meals and post-walk pints out on the sea-view terrace. For barbecues back at base, pick up all the necessaries at the supermarket a mile away (it's got an in-house bakery, butchery, fresh veg and off licence, so best take a few bags to fill). Cardigan town is eight miles from the site.

Binoculars are a fine investment for a trip to these parts: you’ll spot regular wild visitors at this peaceful site and dolphins and seals put in frequent appearances in the bay. Bring bikes too if you like, as each caravan has a cycle rack for your wheels.

Dogs (as you may have noticed) are pretty keen on the seaside too, so Esgaireithin has been set up to welcome four-legged pals too: they’ve even got their own exercise field for running about and meeting fellow holidaying hounds.

Please note

This site has no on-site toilet and shower facilities.

Guests under the age of 18 are not allowed on site.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Dogs must not be left alone in the caravans. Any damage caused may be chargeable.

Hired accomodation : no bedding is provided except for the under sheet.

Beautiful private location. The only sound that broke the silence at night was the owl hooting nearby. 30 minute walk to the nearby hotel and restaurant "The Ship Inn" 45 minutes coming back up the hill, you'd probably do it a bit quicker if your a little younger than us!!
The site owners were really friendly and hospitable. Recommended some places to visit. Made our holiday a very pleasant stay.
Caravan was immaculate. Dog friendly everywhere.

The weather was amazing and we could have been on the Mediterranean coast and not got better views. Spotless villages. Great butchers and grocers nearby.
We very rarely go to the same place twice but Esgaireithin will be in the running if we do.

A perfect place for us to relax. Peaceful site with all we needed for a short break.
We took our down sleeping bags as we know caravans get cool at night. I also took all our food including cooking oil, salt and pepper and I even remembered washing up liquid and kitchen towel.
This meant we didn’t need to shop much although the garage store was there for essentials.
The fishing was a blank but the walks and weather fantastic.
We will return if we can. Thanks for a lovely holiday.

Awesome and secure area right outside caravan for dogs also large field for dog exercise was great. Fantastic local walks and great location only 15 min walk to beach, and 10 min drive to bigger beaches. Lovely area, lots of footpaths and walks plus dog friendly pubs all welcoming. Owner great and welcomed us to site, plus told us of many places to visit. Would definitely go again it was great of you want quiet site and dog walks.

    Disliked:

Is a little quiet with only 4 caravans on site but that’s what we wanted. WiFi was a bit hit and miss and connection and signal not strong but didn’t bother us at all. Could do with a toaster but that’s minor detail as I’m toast lover.

Very dog friendly. You have your own fenced in garden. You can take your own bbq. The owners Delme and Julie are wonderful hosts. Everything we needed in the caravan.
The beach is about 20 mins walk away. Cliff top walks in either direction. There’s a petrol station with a decent shop about 3 mins drive away.

Caravan was perfect and well equipped, friendly and helpful owners were always around if needed and site is small (4 caravans) so lovely and quiet.

Local attractions

At 60 miles long, the Ceredigion Coast Path might be a little daunting for most visitors, but even short chunks cram in heaps of gorgeous views and spectacular beaches, so plan to cover as much or as little as you like. Highlights nearby include the waterfall at Tresaith beach and the lovely beaches at Penbryn and Aberporth (both about 45 minutes’ walk or five minutes’ drive).

Want to get even closer to the sea? Tresaith's beach is popular with surfers, and there are also great waves at Poppit Sands (20 minutes) and Llangrannog (15 minutes). Cardigan (15 minutes) is a hive of activities for intrepid sorts – coasteering, paddleboarding and sea kayaking are all on the menu here.

Looking for something a little less hair-raising? Folk fascinated by engineering will want to examine the engine collection at the Internal Fire Museum of Power (five minutes’ drive), while arty types may prefer a wander in the gardens at Sculptureheaven (10 minutes). Castle wanders are never too far away in Wales either – 13th-century Cilgerran Castle (20 minutes) is your nearest place to roam among ruins.
