  • Dog-friendly family-run site in Carmarthenshire with sea views
  • Walking distance from the Wales Coast Path and a woodland walk
  • Pub with home-cooked food within five minutes' walk of the site
Feeling wistful for a wander along the Wales Coast Path? Perhaps Carmarthenshire’s castles are on your to-visit list? If so, map out your way to Hazeldene Caravan Park, a dog-friendly West Wales site with three and a half acres of land and splendid sea views. On the edge of the village of Llansaint, this site is under half an hour’s walk away from the Wales Coast Path and five minutes’ drive away from Kidwelly. Salt air and sea views are rather the specialties at this site… you might want to watch the sunset over the sea in the evening or look out over the Gower Peninsula when it’s a bit brighter. Don’t forget to admire the countryside scenery too – there are natural woodlands adjacent to the site for scenic walks towards the coastal path. With the nearest pub a short stroll away too, you’ll soon be choosing between the log fire and cosy beer garden to indulge in some home-cooked food. As it’s under five minutes’ walk, you won’t have far to go to reach the site again for those of you who fancy knocking back a couple of pints, too. Things are well-kept on site with fully landscaped, spacious pitches and an amenities block with heated luxury showers and a disabled unit… so, you’ll be fine getting yourself spick and span for a new day.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked A nice relaxed site with exceptional shower and toilet facilities, the best I have ever seen on a campsite. There is enough lighting along the footpath for those mid night wee trips😂 The washing up area was clean with hot running water and a fridge/freezer was available. The small play area was ideal and the children played freely.

Disliked Fridge/freezer could do with a wipe down

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Views, bathrooms and the styling decor, cool washing up facility, friendly welcome. Also the small things which show attention to detail such as music in the bathrooms, plenty of hooks on the back of the doors, long showers so you don’t soak all your stuff when showering. You can tell a lot of thought has gone into the design of the facilities! Didn’t have to pay for showers either which seems to be a bonus in Wales.

Disliked Dislike is a strong word - but just a note that the access lane might be a bit tight for large motorhomes. We were in a campervan so no issue for us.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Very peaceful site with fantastic views. Very clean toilets and showers. Freezer was very beneficial to us as non electric camping.

Disliked Only one male toilet which wasn't a problem for us as it was quiet but could be a problem in busier times.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Outstanding Views, Lovely shower/toilet block, a fridge freezer you can use.

Disliked Just got home from our second weekend in a row staying here and the first weekend was perfect, no complaints at all. On this second weekend however all that changed. Due to living local to the site we had a few guests join us for a BBQ (There was no issue with this on the first weekend). The site warden Gary clearly had an issue with this and spoke to us and our guests like utter dirt saying things like "if your guests ain't out of here by 7pm then you can leave with them" all with an aggressive tone, despite nothing being done wrong on our end. When we were walking to and from the toilet facilities, Gary and all his friends and family were just sat on the deck of their caravan drinking, smoking and death glaring us. On a couple of occasions they could be heard talking badly about us when we would walk past, calling us names like "riffraff" etc. The rest of our weekend was spent treading on eggshells as we didn't know what Gary would take an issue with next.

This is such a shame as we really liked this site and it's beautiful views, but we will not be returning due to how we got treated by the warden Gary and his wife, and neither will our guests who came to see what the site was like as we had been raving about it the weekend before.

Liked This was our second time here and the first time was fantastic veiws are stunning facilities were very clean loved the campsite

Disliked Unfortunately our second visit was a very different experience the warden was very aggressive to us all which ruined our whole weekend it’s such a shame because the campsite is lovely very intimidating when going to the toilets as the warden sits there in a group until late in the night and the whole group were very hostile

Liked Like the view and the surrounding area, the shower block.

Disliked How noisy some of the groups were around us, there are strict rules around dogs and speed limits but 2 groups were playing music and loud until past 1am.

Local attractions

Planning on living it up (or lounging it out) at the beach? At Ferryside beach (10 minutes' drive), a stroll around the dunes or a rummage through some of the rockpools makes for a leisurely day, while Llanelli (half an hour) has a bigger beachside buzz, thanks to kayaking and canoeing (or inland, an indoor play centre with a sports area). For those of you after more active pursuits, perhaps you’ll want to gravitate over to Glyn Abbey Golf Club (15 minutes) and Ashburnham Golf Club (20 minutes) or Pembrey Country Park (20 minutes) for everything from skiing and tobogganing to cycle hire and a miniature railway. There’s Ffos Las Racecourse (15 minutes) for some spectator sports (on race day that is), or the extra adrenaline over at Oakwood Theme Park (55 minutes) and Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (50 minutes). But to bring things back to earth, the National Botanic Garden of Wales (half an hour) has a tropical house, glasshouse and bird of prey centre. For a trip backwards in time the medieval Kidwelly Castle (five minutes), Kidwelly Industrial Museum (10 minutes) and Llansteffan Castle (35 minutes) will all fit the bill. As for those of you with an artistic streak, maybe shoot for Carmarthen’s market or arts and crafts workshops (20 minutes).
