Escape all the crowds and reconnect with nature at Tir Pengam Campsite, a pop-up set on a small family-run working farm (as its name suggests, just outside Pengam in South Wales) in Glamorgan. Camp your own way in a slightly sloping field with rural views – with the owners’ ‘camp anywhere’ policy, you’re free to choose your favourite spot and pitch up right there. There are no marked pitches, no rigid rules – just space, freedom and fresh air. Whether you’re tucked away in a quiet meadow, beside a hedgerow or on higher ground with countryside views, you can be sure of waking up to birdsong and the sound of livestock in the fields. Later in the day you can watch the sun set over open pastures, and relish the peace that comes from being surrounded by nature. Best-suited to guests seeking a true back-to-basics wild camping experience, the site allows you the freedom to stargaze by your campfire on clear nights, or simply unwind from the noise of everyday life. Basic amenities include showers and loos, a washing-up area and pick-up from public transport.
