  • Cosy glamping cabin on a hill overlooking the Swansea Valley
  • A quarter of an hour's drive to the Brecon Beacons National Park
  • A 20-minute walk from Pontardawe's swimming pool, pubs and shops
Set on a hill in a peaceful location overlooking the Swansea Valley, this cosy glamping cabin is just the job for trips to the Brecon Beacons National Park, days out by the coast on the Gower Peninsula or simply relaxing in your own little private bolthole. Swansea Log Cabin is five minutes' drive or 20 minutes on foot from the pleasant village of Pontardawe, where a well-maintained public pool, shops and pubs are available. There's also a calm canalside you can stroll or ride your bike along, plus the peaceful banks of the river Tawe also running through the village. The cabin is a cosy place to stay and see it all as there's central heating to keep you warm at cooler times. Inside, there's a kitchen with a full electric oven, gas hob and microwave, as well as a living area with a leather sofa, chairs and a dining table. In the bedroom, you'll sleep soundly in the kingsize bed, while in the morning you can freshen up in the large shower in the ensuite. Outside, there's a decking area where you can sit and admire the view when there's a fine sunset in the sky; on less clement evenings, you can crawl back indoors, where a TV with Netflix is ready to go for a movie night.

Local attractions

If you book with enough notice, you can arrange 4x4 off-road driving experiences from the cabin (talk to the site team who will give you more details). Also in the local area, you could head to Pontardawe's golf course (five minutes) for a round; there's also scope to visit the Mond Valley Golf Club (10 minutes). It's a 15-minute drive to the southern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, where you can head out on underground explores at the National Showcaves Centre for Wales (20 minutes), climb to the top of Pen y Fan mountain (45 minutes) or take scenic drives up to hilltop Carreg Cennen castle (35 minutes) for a picnic overlooking the hills. To the south lies the Gower Peninsula Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (45 minutes), where several sandy beaches can be reached. And that's without even visiting the city of Swansea itself (30 minutes), where The National Waterfront Museum, a zoo and bowling are all on the cards.
