Even in the face of some pretty stiff competition, Rhossili Bay is surely one of the most scenic spots in the gorgeous Gower National Landscape. There are wild ponies grazing as you look out to the Worm’s Head tidal island, and the three-mile sandy beach has won the title of Britain’s Best Beach in the past… All of this will be in supremely easy reach when you stay at Rhossili Paddocks. As the name suggests, this family-friendly farm site is just a short distance from Rhossili village and the beach and coastline just beyond – it’s about a five-minute drive or a mile and a half's walk along a country path. There are plenty of walks and bike rides to try out around here (some of them passing top-notch pubs for a bit of refreshment), and you’ll be within easy reach of several other splendid spots along the coast too – places like Oxwich, Three Cliffs, Mumbles and Llangennith are all within a half-hour drive. Life at this family-run farm site is fairly simple, but all the main amenities are in place – you’ll have access to toilets, showers, a washing-up area and picnic benches, along with a communal barn to relax in (or shelter from the rain, which does sometimes feature in South Wales). There are places to eat out within a mile and a half, at the village’s cafés and pub.

Liked Lovely laid back campsite which was still calm and relaxed. The hosts were lovely and we were welcomed warmly. Facilities were great, everything you need and was lovely and clean. Close to Rhossili bay and loads to do close by.

Liked Had the best couple of nights here! Super close to Rhossili village and the beach. The facilities were great, clean toilet and shower and a communal kitchen with anything you might need! Would 100% stay here again :)

Local attractions

Rhossili Bay (five minutes’ drive) is one of the most popular spots on the Gower Peninsula. The three-mile sandy beach is a lovely place for a picnic, a swim or some games, and you can look out for the wreck of the Helvetia at low tide. At low tide you can also walk across the causeway to the Worm’s Head island – just check your timings carefully to avoid being cut off on the return leg. From here you can also pick up the Gower Coast Path for walks to places like Port Eynon and Culver Hole to the east or Llangennith and Broughton Bay to the west (or even further, if you’re up for a proper hike). Turning inland, there’s often lots of wildlife (plus ponies and Highland cattle) to spot around the heaths, along with historical places like King Arthur's Stone Dolmen (10 minutes’ drive). Time for more coast walks and beaches? There’s certainly no shortage – places like Oxwich Bay (15 minutes) and Three Cliffs (20 minutes) are always worth visiting, or you could head a little further to the family favourite Mumbles (half an hour), with its pier, arcades and crazy golf.
