General
- Peaceful campsite in a forested valley near Glynneath in Glamorgan
- A 15 minute drive to Zip World Tower, half an hour to Aberavon beach
- Lake and river fishing on site; shops and pubs 10 minutes’ drive
Hiking, biking or hill walking in the Brecon Beacons National Park (35 minutes’ drive) then coming back to cook up dinner over the flames of a campfire? Or how about angling for carp on two spring-fed lakes or the mile of private fishing on the River Neath (bring your own kit)? If this sounds Brecon brilliant, give Spring Valley Lakes a look in next time you’re around Glamorganshire.
Spring Valley Lakes is a peaceful and friendly spot located between the villages of Resolven and Glynneath with a friendly vibe and excellent amenities: ‘spotless’, ‘immaculate’ and ‘excellent’ are among the accolades heaped on the site by happy former guests.
The pace is slow for those who want to sink into a well-earned break; while the more energetic can go hiking along miles of canal, biking and hill walking, or have a go at sand-yachting or kitesurfing on south Wales beaches like Aberavon (half an hour’s drive).
Whichever option you pick, take some peaceful time out around the lake, edged by a forested valley, dwelt on by swans and carefully managed over the years (the family team at Spring Valley Lakes has been developing the farm since 1995) to its tidy and scenic setting these days.
The site is near all the local amenities in Glynneath (10 minutes), including handy supermarkets, a bakery, fish and chip shops, fast-food places and several pubs, so you have the choice of cooking alfresco at your pitch or hot-footing it into town for supper.

From the A483 Llandeilo, follow the A483 until you get to Derwydd and turn left (brown sign to Carreg Cennen Castle), then straight and follow the bendy road (do not turn off to the castle signs). Continue past the church on the righthand bend and after two-thirds of a mile you will see a sign for Bryncoch Farm and South Wales Camping (concrete road). Turn left up into the drive and left onto the site.
From services on the M4, follow the Ammanford signs five miles to Ammanford, through the first set of lights. Bear right at the second set of lights and take the third turning left just after the speed camera, then continue for about 3 miles. You will pass the Square and Compasses pub on the right. Follow the road bearing left around the bend for 500m and you will find our concrete drive and signs on the right.
