Plenty of space

  • Well-maintained Anglesey pitches on a family-run working farm
  • A 10-minute drive to Parys Mountain; 20 minutes to Benllech beach
  • Very short walk to local pub; five minutes' drive to Amlwch
Up at the top end of the Isle of Anglesey is generally a great place to take a peaceful holiday – but it gets even better when there’s a local pub a mere 50 yards away. And that’s the situation you’ll find yourself in when you stay at Cae Ffynnon, part of a working farm about five minutes’ drive inland from Amlwch. Pitches at this small family-run site are well maintained and well located, within easy reach of walking trails, bike paths, beaches, boat trips and the port at Holyhead (about half an hour’s drive away for those boarding a ferry to Ireland). And of course there’s that village pub a short walk away for a good feed and a welcome pint after your day out. You’ll have plenty of space to spread out on your pitch when you’re staying here, and you’ll be provided with some handy amenities including an electric hookup and picnic bench for each pitch. Shared facilities include toilets, showers and a washing-up area and you’re welcome to bring dogs and kids along for a stay here. Being so close to Amlwch means that you’ll have easy enough access to shops and places to eat (and the beach…) despite your peaceful immediate surroundings.

What customers say

This is a quiet, friendly, and peaceful site with spacious pitches offering beautiful views. The owner is consistently praised for being helpful and welcoming. The location is ideal for exploring Anglesey, with a pub nearby. Facilities are basic but generally clean, with ongoing improvements noted. Some guests mention limited toilet and shower facilities, particularly when the site is busy. Wildlife, including goats and horses, is a highlight for many.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Loved the site, was small and quiet, Len the owner kept it clean and was as super friendly and helpful. Pointed us in the direction of a beautiful beach so had a couple of lovely days. Our daughter (1yr old) loved seeing the horses and goats every morning, and the friendly chicken that kept on escaping from next door!

Would highly recommend and would definitely be back.

Disliked Nothing to really dislike.

Electric hardstanding pitch

Liked Len the owner was so accommodating. He was available to help if needed. Small back to basics site. Exactly what we like. Modern toilet block with clean showers. We were a mixed age group staying in vans and tents. We will be hopefully booking again next year.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Friendly owner. Helpfully and fair
Friendly horses and goats next door

Disliked Only 1 shower

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for you're review but you have put in the dislike that there is only one shower? Two brand new showers were commissioned at the start of this season, how did you not see shower 1 and shower 2......? Both showers are in use on the site, I cannot understand how you missed them as they are positioned parallel to each other.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights here and would highly recommend it.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked A quiet informal camp site with a very informative and friendly host, he is always contactable by phone and on arrival if he is not there you can just pitch up and he will contact you next time he is there. There are good facilities for the size of the site. Great feeling of nature all around. Within easy reach of local towns, restaurants, pub, and walking areas.
The tent pitches are spacious and flat (unless you choose to camp on a slope!) there are 2 good showers (Need a £1 coin) and 2 toilets on site and are well maintained and stocked. The wash up area includes a small refrigerator and charging point for those with out electric hook up.
I would stay here again.
A special recommendation is Rozis Tandoori Restaurant in near by Amlwch (9 minute drive away).
The Local Pub: The Ring is 2 minutes walk away and gets busy, it does serve a variety of drinks and food which is OK if you can't be bothered to go further or cook, but is limited and expensive. Their out side pods are good with nice lights and heating for a chilly evening.
Loved the sites local horses, crows and visiting chickens.

Disliked Nothing, it is not common these days to find such a laid back camp site where you feel relaxed.

Electric hardstanding pitch

Liked Small, well laid out campsite.

Easy check-in...no staff around so I just called the number and was allocated a pitch number. Later on the owner (Len) called around to collect the balance of the money and answer any questions etc.

Len...very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area.

Lovely clean facilities.

Nice pub less than a minute's walk!

Local attractions

A trip to Anglesey is usually all about the outdoor activities, and you’ll be well placed for those with a stay here. A drive of a little over five minutes will get you to a fishing spot at Llyn Alaw or a challenging but scenic round at Bull Bay Golf Club. Boats also head out from Amlwch harbour (five minutes’ drive) for sea fishing or just a bit of coastal sightseeing. There’s plenty of sightseeing to do on land too, whether you head out on the Anglesey Coast Path or aim for Parys Mountain (10 minutes’ drive) for a fabulous stroll through the colourful landscapes left behind by an ancient copper mine. The Copper Kingdom Centre (five minutes) will give you further insight into this aspect of the island’s past. And what about when you’d just like to sit on the beach, thanks very much? There’s a small stretch of sand at Amlwch, but you’d be better off heading to Lligwy (15 minutes), Church Bay (20 minutes) or Benllech (20 minutes) if you’re planning to spend a whole day swimming and sandcastle building.
